Please Help Me...

Mon Sep 18, 2000 5:30 am

I need your help. I have a web page on Yahoo! Geocities and I have recently posted jpg pictures. However, I can't seem to view them when loading the pages.

Would any of you be so kind as to check out the following links, and then tell me if you actually get any images:

http://www.geocities.com/bandimal/kcle/spotters.html/
http://www.geocities.com/bandimal/kcle/hopkins.html/
http://www.geocities.com/bandimal/kcle/cargord.html/

or check out the pictures in this directory:

http://www.geocities.com/bandimal/jpg/July_2000/

Please reply to this thread and let me know about your results.

Thanks,

I tried the links and on all I got this message: "Whoops! We can't find your page!"

On the last link I got a list a .jpg files "Index of /bandimal/jpg/July_2000"

Are you using the new page builder in Geocities?

Hello Redngold,

When I tried, I keep getting a message that Yahoo couldn't find your page. I tried all 3 and got the same response.

Unfortnuately, I don't know anything about web design, so can't tell you what's going wrong.

Good luck anyway.

THe answer is you typed the page addresses in wrong... all but the last one should NOT have a / at the end of them, and yes I can see the images.

On the last page however, Ican't see the images.

Correction: on the last PAGE I cannot see any images. However, in the directory I can see most of them, and if Itook the time to open them, probably could see them all.

N863DA, that's the way those addresses always come up. Forgive me if I just wrote the addresses the way they're listed in my directory.

Ok, so it looks like "bandimal" doesn't work as my address, as I suspected.

How about this:

http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Oracle/1124/kcle/spotters.html

http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Oracle/1124/kcle/hopkins.html

http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Oracle/1124/kcle/cargord.html

The jpg directory is just a listing of files, yes. What I was trying to figure out is, if you try to open those files, do you see the images?

Thanks again,

The first two links work but on the third the photos are not displayed.

On the .jpg files list I can see the photos, no problem. Again I ask you, are you using Geocities Page Builder?

Aloha!
There's a littel saying in my household-

Never screw around with Geo Shitties!!!

Dude, if you really want to get a web site going, please, please go to www.homestead.com!!!

Building a web site with them is so darn easy!! You can just drop pictures onto the page after you upload them! No HTML, no crappy site builder, the site builder for homestead is user-friendly, works, and is easy!!

Please, take my advise!!!

Mirage,

Sorry I didn't answer your question the first time. I wrote my page from scratch with HTML, not PageBuilder.

I understand writing in HTML can be interesting but take a look at Pagebuilder, you just have to upload pictures to file manager and then drag and drop and write what you want the way you want. The really BAD thing is that you must be connected to internet to build the page and here in my country, 90 hours of internet per month can be around US$100

Mirage,

Thanks for the tip. However, I believe it's not an issue of my HTML writing. It's an issue of how the page loads when viewed externally (not from within the File Manager.)

When I preview my page while editing, I can see everything fine, and in its place. It's when I'm not editing, say if I'm viewing my own page without logging in to Yahoo! Geocities, that I cannot view the JPGs.

If I can view my JPGs while editing, then my HTML has to be correct, right?

PS, how did you manage to get your PageBuilder pages to extend beyond two screens? I always found that PageBuilder limited the length of my page.

Im theory it should work but I'm not an expert so I don't know why that happens, try to email their technical staff making that question, maybe you receive the solution.

To extend pages beyond two screens I use Pagebuilder "page format" feature were I can change the size in lenght and width, one must be careful because a long page is much more slow to open.
