Everyone Is Equal - No Matter What!

Fri Sep 22, 2000 4:30 am

Hi everybody!!!! I came across this wonderful poem the other day, and I thought that because everyone has been debating about equality amongst people, I would post this wonderful poem. It is written in a South African context during the Apartheid regime (1948-1994), but I thought that it was relevant to everybody in this world. Here goes:

Da Same, Da Same

I doesn't care of you black
I doesn't care of you white
I doesn't care of you India*
I doesn't care of you clearlink*
if sometimes you Saus Afrika
you gotta big terrible, terrible
somewheres in yourselves

I mean for sure now
all da people is make lie God
an' da God I knows for sure
He make avarybudy wit' one heart

so now
you see a big terrible terrible stand here
how one man make anader* man feel
da pain he doesn't feel hisself
for sure know dats sa whole point

sometimes you wanna know how I meaning for
is simple
when da nail of say da t'orn tree
scratch little bit little bit of da skin

I doesn't care of you black
I doesn't care of you white
I doesn't care of you India
I doesn't care of you clearlink
I mean for sure da skin
only one t'ing come for sure
an' da one t'ing for sure is red blood
dats for sure da same da same, for avarybudy

so for sure now
you doesn't look anader man in de eye

*Clearlink is the coloured race here in South Africa, which is a mixture of black and white
*India is the South African Indian community

That is an AWESOME poem you shared, 747sp_rulez! I totally applaud you for putting it on here.

There is nothing to disagree with in that. It is a statement that rings true to the very core of my being. For it IS true, we are all human, there is no denying our likeness in that, and it is a shame that as the human race, we do not focus more on how much we are alike so much as how we are different. Imagine how much more we could accomplish with unity and peace.

Cheers!

What is it LGW that you disagree with? Are you racist too? You make me feel bad to be British!

That was lovely Tommy! We need posts like this every so often to bring us all back to our senses some times. We only have one world and one life to live, let's rise above the preconceptions and our prejudices and realise the we are all one. Love, acceptance and understanding - that is the way forward.

(As for LGW, if you are going to respond at least have the courtesy to reply with more than one syllable answers)

Cheers

Hi guys,
I agree with the need to think that we are all the same but I know that untill there will be a single man on Earth there won't be peace and unity.
Anyway many progresses have been made, just think how the situation was fifty years ago and I think that sites like this could help to improve relations between people from different country.
Just look at me: thanks to the discussion in the forums now I can talk happily with Dutch guys!!!!!!
Hey, I'm joking, I love Dutch people just like the others of my big Country: Europe (Btw I have some preferences: British and French)

Ciao

This is a good poem.

"All men are created equal" probably in value. But I think it is time to admit that all people are not equal.

It is not true that the Arian race or any other race is superior. But it is apparent that we are all very, very different in capacities. We're just not all equal.
