Hi everybody,

I was just wondering what is the most popular mobile/cell phone. I have got a Nokia 3310, silver cover and a c-through keypad. What do YOU have??

Apparently I've got an old and outdated one according to what everybody tells me. It's a black Nokia, 940something I think. I dunno. I got it free when I signed a contract a couple of years ago and it hasn't died yet.

I have a Samsung SCH-1000, its old, big and heavy but easy to use and has great quality (Sprint PCS). I also have a Motorola Talkabout T2260 which is small and light but really sucks as far as ease of use and quality (Alltel). I only use the Alltel phone to recieve calls from my friends in Georgia (they are too cheap to call long distance).

I have two:

1) a GSM Motorola L7089 Timeport (Tri-Band) - UK based on 'Orange', permanently used on Powertel and Voicestream here in FL as I live here and use it to keep in touch with friends in the UK... (roaming charges are kinda expensive, however)

and 2) a CDMA Motorola ST7868W StarTac - TLH based on Alltel (just about the worst service provider in the nation) which works perfectly (Digital) everywhere except the one area where I use it most... Daytona Beach. Here, it roams on analog rendering most of the features useless. I just pray that Alltel get a CDMA-based roaming partner in the DAB area, (or expand themselves down there as they did with JAX) because at the moment their partner is Cingluar... which is TDMA and thus it roams on analog (AMPS) service. Most annoying as my wireless modem doesn't work then...

My mom used to think cell phones are evil, that it'll give people a means/reason to track her down.

And I agreed.

But now that she's on cell phones all the time (an old old Philips Genie - stupid design may I add), the whole family might be getting phones soon.

I've always liked that basic Nokia model (3210??). But EGKK's 3310 looks great too. Can't afford to have the phone too small.

My godfather's got this Motorola model that was only sold in China, PDA-esque with touch screen, stylus, et al. But I'm honestly not into that.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Currently I have a Samsung SCH-2000 on Sprint PCS service.

However in the next couple of weeks I'm probably going to switch to either Cingular (formerly CellularOne) or AT&T. However, at the time AT&T looks more favourable as they offer a similar service to Cingular at a lower price, and I've heard from former CellOne users that their Boston coverage is pretty lousy.

So, if I get the AT&T plan, I will probably buy a Nokia 6160m phone with that. Unfortunately I'm not on my computer right now, I'm on a Mac, so I don't know how to display a picture of the phone.

I have an Ericsson T-28 and a Siemens S-25. I use the Siemens because the Ericsson has problems.

I want to buy the 8250 by Nokia. Too bad it is an Asia-Pacific model ONLY!

So I am going for the nokia 8310. The smallest and lightest and most beautiful mobile by Nokia.

I have a Sanyo SCP-4500 PCS with service from Telus (formerly Clearnet). It is a great phone, a big improvement over my old Nokia! Espescially good is the battery life...I usually get at least five-six days of regular use before needing to be recharged (standby all day and talking about 10-15 mins per day).

The package I have is $30 CDN per month for unlimited weekdays/weekend nights and 50 mins at other times. Apparently the air time in Canada is the lowest priced anywhere in the world.

A Nokia 6110 that is barely recognizable after all the beating it's gotten in the Army and at work. Da damn thing works very sporadically though, built in surprise shut-down feature that has developed through the years. Time to upgrade to 6210 even though I should be buying Ericsson to get my flamin’ stocks going again…I really hate that godawful company  Big grin

How much does the 8310 weigh?
I dont think it is as small and light as the 8210 which comes in at 79 grams.

Since I work for Verizon Wireless (Join In) I have a Motorola Timeport. It's like a silver StarTac. I only have 1000 free local minutes, so I use AT&T Wireless with a Nokia 5165 for my roaming and long distance. There is a big BIG difference between the CDMA technology with Verizon and the TDMA technology with AT&T. I love using mobile web with Verizon, but I haven't used it with AT&T. I'm kinda scared it would crash my nifty Nokia. Sometimes, I think I sould join a commune in Mongolia......  Big grin

My b/f has the same exact phone, I love the crab catch game on it. Anyways he drops that sucker all the time, the cover over the display is all cracked to hell and he has to be careful with the antenna cause it will fall out. Anways. SprintPCS is pretty decent, quality is excellent but they are way overloaded, there have been many times when I go turn my phone on and it says "network full". Also, Sprint PCS is expensive too. I pay $84.99 a month for 1000 anytime minutes.

Here is my phone

I have an OLD Panaphone which i bought almost 3 years ago. Its an antique piece now, but it has served me real well and is still giving great service (touchwood).

i am planning to go in for a WAP enabled phone now. Nothing too expensive. though.

My dealer suggests the Sony GS-1 or the Nokia 8310.

Any suggestions?

Yup, $84.99 USD. Why do I pay it? Because SprintPCS is probably the only good wireless service around here, and my phone will work nationwide.

Alltel claims they cover all of Jacksonville, but my phone seems to always be in Roam mode (unless I drive by the Alltel building in Jacksonville), they say they have an agreement with Cingular but I still get charged roaming when Im on the Cingular network.

Cingular is more expensive than SprintPCS and Alltel just sucks.

"Cingular is more expensive than SprintPCS and Alltel just sucks.

AMEN!

Alltel is, quite possibly, the WORST provider in the country... I have an Alltel service and it's awful.

The best is probably Powertel in JAX - they have the most up-to-date technology (GSM) and have far and away the best phones etc. About prices - they're not the cheapest, but they're pretty good.

Alltel does offer Regional plans, by the way, for roaming anywhere in FL, etc. Anyways, they're not great but at least they are digital in JAX - in DAB they aren't!

Alltel does have "service" here, but most of the time my phone is on a Cingular network. When I first used the phone this kind of confused me. I called up Alltel and was pretty much told that they have "agreements" with other providers in Jacksonville. The problem is, I can only recieve calls if Im on the Alltel network (which probably covers about 1 square mile in Jacksonville) and I am still paying roaming charges. I am so unhappy with Alltel I could puke. Also the quality sucks, its all staticy sounding, every time I have used it, it sounds like hell.
