What's your favourite programme? Celebrity Big Brother? Comic Relief? Or an old one like Noel's House Party?

Men Behaving Badly or Only Fools and Horses. Cant beat those two comedies. Also Dad's Army was pretty funny.

The Weakest Link (BBC 1)

Who is beyond help?
Who seriously is below the standard of the rest of you?
Who frankly, should get lost?

YOU

You are the weakest link

I used to love the Blackadder series (2-4). Father Ted is good also, as is the Fast Show.

Of course, Airport is good (documentary on life working at LHR) but Airline is a bit crap (I mean, who cares about life working for Easyjet at Luton?!)

Falty Towers, The Weakest Link etc.
Airport is better than Airline because......it is!
Airline focuses on Easyjet, Airport does lots eg. Quantas, El Al, BA etc.

Keeping up Appearances!!!

"The Bucket residence, the lady of the house speaking!"
We cannot forget her "white slimline telephone with automatic redial".
Nor can we forget her sister Violet that has a Mercedes, Sauna, and room for a pony.

BUT...

Are You Being Served? tops all.. It is the best!

Well, from what little British TV programming we get here in the States, I'd have to go with Black Adder. I'm to young to have seen Monty Python's Flying Circus - I have seen some of those on video - very funny (the ones that are clean, anyway...)

I very much go with the flow on this subject,my favourites are Fawlty Towers,Some Mothers do 'ave em,Only Fools and Horses,Blackadder,Bottom...and last but not least-The Fast Show.......Suits you sir, suit like that, ooh!!
Is it any coincidence that almost all the programmes mentioned so far (except Trigger Happy TV and Father Ted) were all shown by the BBC? There is not one from ITV.Can anyone think of a good/classic TV comedy that was produced or shown by ITV? The first series of Men Behaving Badly doesn't count because it was rubbish!

Well its definitely the British version of Whose Line is it Anyway and with Tony Slattery as one of the panelists...we see re-runs here in the states and I love it...it kicks the american version away by far!

I can understand why you guys enjoy Keeping up Appearences, but when you have a Hyacinth all of your own, as a grandmother, it all gets a bit too much....

I enjoyed Whose Line is it anyway, but also Have I got news for you, and wait until you guys get The Fast Show!!  Big thumbs up

Keeping up Appearances is way too predictable for my taste. In every show, Hyacinth manages to mess everything up and we can be equally certain that her relatives will show up at some inopportune moment. It's funny for a little while, but it quickly becomes annoying.

I agree that that the UK version of Whose Line is it Anyway is pretty funny.

Other favorites of mine include Fawlty Towers, Blackadder, Chef!, Are You Being Served, Waiting For God and A Fine Romance. All of these shows are no longer produced.

Richard and Judy are to stop presenting this morning. They will stop being on that show, and are moving to do something on Channel 4. What do you think about this. Or don't you care, like I don't care?!?!?!?

Funny (no pun intended) how all of the programmes mentioned have been comedy shows. It must be a reflection on the British character. Well, to add my own thoughts :
Dad's Army
Have I Got News For You
Fawlty Towers
This Life
The Fast Show
Porridge
Songs of Praise
Highway
One Man And His Dog

MEGAPTERA,

One great thing about the British, is their ability to ridicule themselves. Few other societies go to such trouble.

It's like a breath of fresh air. Big grin

Quantas If Qantas737 saw that he would kill you!

Jack Dee's happy hour, the first series  Big thumbs up

Also there used to be this political Comedy show that is lik Have i got news for you. It had a load of guys who look like politians (Graham Garden is one) who pretend to have all really funny policys if they were to be Prime Minister, at the end the audience voted either for the Red Party or the Green party (which was funniest).

That show cracked me up no end!

BBC now operate a channel available through cable or satellite, in quite a few overseas countries (US for one, we get it in Angola too).

Mostly news-related programmes, but a few popular series (Top Gear etc.) also appear.

Not bad, and I may be biased here Big grin but I think it's news bulletins are a cut above CNN's.

"HARDtalk" is very, very dull on the whole. I think they try to do a Jeremy Paxman type interview, but they've failed pretty miserably.

Paxman's the man!

"Yes or No, answer the question! Did you force him into resigning?" Big grin Big grin
