Wimbledon 2001

Tue Jun 26, 2001 2:51 am

Well, Wimbledon 2001 started today. My predictions for this grand slam are Sampras for men and Capriati for woman. And I'm supporting both these people for the final.

But it will be interesting to see what happens...Who do you think will win?

Already Capriati and Sampras have won matches. Did anyone see that Hingis lost the match today against some unknown? Quite funny really. Big grin

Anyway, over to you guys...

I LOVE TENNIS!

Martina Hingis is out! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I am so disappointed that Martina is out because I love her, but it will make it easier for Capriati to win. I must admit though, that I'm only cheering for Capriati now because she may pull off the grand slam.

That's the only reason I'd ever cheer for an American.

This year winner will be: Men-Sampras
Women- V. Williams

Though I would like to see Safin win.

I don't give a damn if someone is and American or Aussie or Brit or whomever. I don't "root" for someone based on their nationality. I don't care for the men's game anymore. It's too boring. In the women, I'm pulling for Jennifer, simply because she's overcome her demons and made a great comeback. She's definitely the poster child allowing people a second chance. Go Jennifer!

Can't let this get too far down the list...!
Sampras seemed to have had a rough time of it yesterday, against the wild card Cowen...wonder if this is a peek of what's to come like maybe him not making it to the finals this year...?? Roddick was pretty impressive but I fear he is being made to much of i.e. too much media attention etc. and could effect his play in the future...remember what happened to Capriati? Too much too soon...but she, thankfully, is back with a vengeance!!  Smile
The Williams sisters seem to be having a lot of fun..good for them..I think we'll see them at the end of the tournament along with Capriati....
Hope everything's o.k. with Mark...haven't heard from him yet.... and where'd you go to Tom?....
and a welcome to everyone else...!
