Anyone Canadian?

Thu Oct 25, 2001 5:50 am

Just want to know if you're Canadian, and if you are, where you're from.
Shut up and calculate.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

I must be honest though...as far as I'm concerned, CANADA starts North of the city!

Hi Johnnie.

Hey, what can I say. Walking through the streets of downtown Toronto or the boroughs, such as Scarborough (where I presently live -- but not for long), you don't see a reflection of "Canada" by any means!!!

I used to live near Beaverton, up on Lake Simcoe. It's not quite as far into Canada as somewhere like North Bay, Ont, Elliot Lake, Ont, or even Churchhill, Man, but it sure beats living in Toronto!

Chris,

I agree with you 96.7%, as I am an avid lover of the
North. Toronto has grown way too much, way too fast. BUT......T.O is still a great town! Great restaurants, great galleries, great bookstores, etc. By the way, I was in Halifax a while ago, for the first time in a few years. I LOVE that city! Very very friendly people, and a short drive takes you into the heartland beauty of the Maritimes. Great seafood restaurants too.

Hi Johnnie.

I agree with you. Toronto's got some really cool places to visit, whether you're a tourist or live in the area. Now-a-days, what I like the most about Toronto is the downtown Skyline (day or night). I guess I'm just sick of all the crap I keep seeing on the local news like crime, homelessness, screwball politicians. I think the current Flavour Of The Year is Tamil Gangster Shootings! I wish they would just ship all those bastards back to Sri Lanka! The city has changed so much. It's to busy now...at least for me. It's time to move on, to a place where it's peacefull. I've done my time in T.O.

I was on a week long vacation in Halifax in December of 1999. It's a beautiful city. If you drive east for around 45 minutes through all the small coastal towns you'll find your way to Peggy's Cove! Very Scenic...Very Relaxing. I guess it's known world wide now, since the SwissAir Disaster.

Hey Mr. Spaceman

I totally agree with you on all of your points raised about Toronto. I really have a love/hate relationship with T.O. For dining, galleries, films, bookstores, cafes, it is BELLISIMO!!! Toronto has definitely become a "mini-manhattan" in a few years span.

Glad you loved Halifax like I did. Great city, and the people were unbelievably friendly. Which, sadly, is more than I can say about the corporate climbers here in T.O.

Funny you mention Peggy's Cove. When I was last in Halifax, friends and i drove out to that area, and visited the Swissair Flight 111 Memorial. Very moving, yet so serene, what with the sound of the waves crashing against the rocky shore. Locals now refer to this area
as "The Terrible Beauty". The Maritimes and its people are truly special. Very warm-hearted and down to earth. And the beaches of Prince Edward Island.....
aaaaaaaaah! BELA! BELA!!!

Hi Iamcanadian.

OK, now that you have heard from many of the Canucks that are in here...I have a question for you: Where do you live??? It's not listed in your profile.

PS. Great post by the way, it's cool to know how many of us are on board!  Big thumbs up
