10 game unbeaten streak, nabokov is a stonewall, ricci-sundstrom-thornton are on fire, selanne is heating up, sturm and marleau have got some serious speed.
Bryan machment has been back for 10 games... have the sharks lost since he came back? noooooo......... haha seriously though, I really think these guys in teal have a shot at the cup this year.

If Selanne can really pick it up, and bring his level of play to that which it was with the Ducks, you had better watch out for the Sharks.

Hey! I do agree...my sister is married to Mike Ricci's brother Morris!!! So for me I have followed his carrier since he played minor hockey in Toronto Ontario. Mike has had to work hard since a young boy and gave up a lot to get where he is. He started in the MTHL in Toronto, drafted Junior "A" to the Peterborough Petes and then went directly to Philadelphia Flyers. From there he was traded to Quebec for Eric Lindros and from there the team was sold to Colorado (Avalanche). The first year with Colorado he was one player that helped win them the "Stanley Cup" so he proudly wears a Stanley Cup Ring. A couple of years later he was traded to San Jose where he is now. Hockey is truly a fantastic sport and I give credit to anyone who has the skill and hard work ethics that it takes to go all the way!
My own son played MTHL hockey for 9 years in the "AAA" league in Toronto with the Toronto Marlboros. Wow...it takes a lot of hard work and a lot of credit should go to the parents as they are the ones that put out the "cash" and do all the driving!

I wouldn't call them a contender based on Nabby's experience. I think they definately have a shot at the cup though.
Whats happened is that they got a lot of early round draft picks(along w/ some trades) and now those draft picks are developing and San Jose is really the only NHL system they know. There is a lot of chemistry on that team, and that is paying off.
Yes, San Jose is seven points ahead of Dallas(as of 4:10 cst dec.20), but Dallas isn't out of it yet. Dallas knows what it takes to win with the veteran leadership on that team. So San Jose doesn't have their work cut out for them yet. If they get sloppy, they will go nowhere, but if they keep this pace up, I might consider them a cup contender when the playoffs start.

The Sharks made believers out of me when they manhandled the Stars a few nights ago. However, those teams will probably meet in the playoffs, and I trust Dallas. That veteran leadership and the usual San Jose late-season fade should push the Stars past them at least one more year.

One things for sure- the winner of the Pacific Division(most like san jose or dallas) won't win by too much. I am going to go ahead and pick the Stars because of the leadership of "been there, done that" that they have. San Jose doesn't have that many cup winners compared to Dallas. Plus Dallas has a few guys who have repeated(i believe so, not sure) at some point or another in their careers. Not to mention guys who have gone to the finals and lost.
Based on experience, I think the stars might win the pacific division. Dallas has relied on experience the last few years, and thats what really got them to their first cup. I don't think San Jose is going to win it all this year, I think it might take a few years going step by step to the cup.
I hope I am not talking about Dallas too much. If I am, I'm sorry.
