Favorite Saturday Night Live Skit/Bit

Sun Jan 26, 2003 1:46 pm

I was just watching SNL and I saw The "Swifter Sleeper" commercial. When two kids put on pajamas that are like the swifter sweeper but pj's, and the mom was using the kids as the actual mop and rolling them down the floor and on the ceiling. That was hysterical. My favorite commercial on SNL is without a doubt the "Crotch Bats" That was with Will Ferrel and some kids hitting each other in the crotch with bats. It was so funny. What are you favorite SNL skits?

Matt Foley, where he is speaking to the family (David Spade, Phil Hartman, etc) is absolutely genius.

I've a preference to that kind of physical humor, and that cast members were cracking up too boot.

I like many skits on SNL. I like ICEMAN: THE LATER YEARS with Val Kilmer, I like Church Chat with Dana Carvey. The ladies man with Tim Meadows. Oh, BTW -- Did anyone happen to catch the AL GORE Saturday Night Live that was on about a month ago where he imitated Trent Lott on Hardball with Darrell Hammond

"Chris, Chris, It has come to my attention that some of my comments I made about Strom Thurmond have been construed as racially insensitive. Let me apologize. I meant no disrespect to any white people, I myself am a white man, and some if not all of my best friends are white. And let me make this clear, as long as I'm in office, we will leave no white person behind."

"Celebrity Jeopardy"...

Alex Trebek (Will Ferrell): "Right, Mr. Connery, why don't you pick?"

Sean Connery (Darrell Hammond): "Haha, it looks like this is my lucky day, Ill take 'The Rapists' for $200"

Trebek: "That's 'THERAPISTS' not "THE RAPISTS' "

Connery: "Damn!"

RIP Celebrity Jeopardy, you will be sorely missed...

"Weekend Update" has always been my favorite (except when Norm Macdonald was butchering it.) My favorite episodes were the ones done during the 2000 Election scandals.

from http://www.weekendupdate.freeservers.com/:

Fey: "Let's begin with a recap of election news from the last twenty-four hours. Yesterday afternoon in a surprising decision, the Florida Supreme Court ruled in favor of Al Gore, calling for an immediate hand recount. This victory for Gore is regarded as the most shocking and ludicrous comeback since Bobby Ewing walked out of the shower on 'Dallas.'"

Fallon: "It's like a WWF Smackdown plot. You know the guy's all beat up he's down for the count, George Bush is talking about his transition team and then all of a sudden you see Al Gore's eyebrow go up 'Can you smell what the Rock is cooking?' Gore grabs a folding chair, whole new ball game.'"

Fey: "Then around four-thirty p.m. Judge N. Sanders Sauls recuses himself of any further proceedings and George W. Bush recuses himself in his pants."

Fallon: "Then around five-thirty, Republican Senator Orrin Hatch burst into flames."

Fey: "So now we're up to today at eight o'clock this morning the hand recounts start up again, then the Circuit Court rejects Bush's appeal, the Prime Minister of Israel resigns, no one notices, then this afternoon the U.S. Supreme Court got all up in it and stopped the recount. In light of these events, America is cancelled. Citizens are asked to choose between Canada and Mexico by 4 p.m. tomorrow."

Any of the "Toonces the Driving Cat" skits are some of the funniest, even though we all know they all end the same way.

My favorite is from 1989, during the fall of the Berlin Wall. Tey did "Ost Berliner Squaren," a spoof of longtime gameshow Hollywood Squares. Half the squares were empty because the celebrities had "Defecten zu den Westen."

Ummm....I think you are supposed to use past-tense when describing Chris Farley.

My favorite SNL skit/bit---the litter box animals, with the kids and the molds. Chicago sports roundtable was pretty funny also.

I also liked the bits during the Lewinski scandal, especially John Goodman as Linda Tripp, and Tim Meadows as Betty Currie, that was some funny bits.

The "1978 Royal Deluxe II"

"We've come to Temple Beth Shalom in LIttle Neck, New York, and asked Rabbi Meyer Teplitz to circumcise eight-day-old Benjamin Cantor while riding in the back seat of the Royal Deluxe II."

....

"Poifect."

I bet Superfly remembers the Mercury ads where the jeweler cut the valuable diamond while riding in the back seat of a Grand Marquis .... the SNL skit was a hoot.

I forgot totally about Toonces...the first time I saw a Toonces sketch (on a tape)...I was about 12 years old and the ending for some reason never failed to crack me up...havent seen one in quite a while though...

Another favorite of mine is the Bush Gore Debate #2 (Nigerian Names)...whats interesting is that the names he mentions are in fact real people in the Nigerian Government...

President Olusegun Obasanjo
Vice President Atiku Abubakar
Special Assistant Tunde Olusunle
Director General of Public Enterprise, Mallam Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai
Special Assistant to the President on National Orientation and Public Affairs, Chief Onyema Ugochukwu

I cant find the last one, the Minister of Mining...its out there though...

If anyone wants to see ICEMAN, Download KaZaA, and after you do that. Search for SNL - Top Gun, and you will get it. Make sure it says VIDEO and not MUSIC

I have to disagree with you there. I HATED that. It was a ripoff of celebrity jeopardy. That has to be one of the worst skits that I have ever seen on Saturday Night Live. Everyone who has seen it is now 5 X dumber than they were before watching it.

How was it a ripoff of celebrity jeopardy? They did those skits in like '92-'94. Way before Will Farrel came on SNL.

Anyone remember the commercial for the car called ADOBE? It was the car that was made entirely of clay...They showed the car after a minor accident and is dented....and then they fast forward to 30 mins later and they show how you could repair the car yourself. I dunno if it was because I was like maybe 5-6 yrs old when I first saw but I found that skit hilarious.
