How Do You Remove Spywares From Your Computer?

Sun Feb 16, 2003 7:06 pm

Hello,

As I just got rid of Kazaa to use Kazaa Lite, I was wondering what was the best way to remove any spyware existing on my computer ??

Are there any shareware that could help me ?? On Download.com ??

Thanks,

I highly reccommend getting Ad-Aware. I used it on my computer and it found a bunch of spyware. If you use any kind of file-sharing service, you have to get Ad-Aware. The best part, it's FREE!

I just downloaded that Ad-Aware6.0 a few days ago. When I scanned my PC it found almost 300 files. They were from the notorious spyware programs...Gain, Gator, and Xupiter. The problem I'm noticing is that I've scanned my PC again everyay since and it keeps coming up with a few new files, like 15 or so from Gain and Gator. Apprantly this means that the spyware is somewhere on my computer. Do you know how I can rid my computer of it completely? I only realized how much spyware I had on my PC when out of the blue I had this little calendar icon appear on my taskbar and also some clock synchronizer thingy too. I can't seem to find where to delete them. Anyone know?

I have Kazaa and was wondering just what is spyware?? Seems to be its pretty much hacking programs for other people to hack your computer. Is that right?

@COboeing777:

I had the same problem as you.

Only one advice: check all your program files, and delete every program you don't know and that looks strange!

But... make sure that you don't delete driving systems of your computer!

I got rid of everything in this way... besides 5 spywares which come back every day. And the strange thing is: if I am a whole day using my computer, without being on a.net, I don't have them. And when I browse than through the forum for about 20 minuts, I got them!

Strange...

Ad-Aware is highly recommended!

Regards
Frederic
