DID YOU KNOW.....

It is impossible to lick your elbow.

A crocodile can't stick it's tongue out.

A shrimp's heart is in their head.

People say "Bless you" when you sneeze because when you sneeze, your heart stops for a millisecond.

In a study of 200,000 ostriches over a period of 80 years, no one reported a single case where an ostrich buried its head in the sand (or attempted to do so - apart from Bones ).

It is physically impossible for pigs to look up into the sky.

A pregnant goldfish is called a twit

Between 1937 and 1945 Heinz produced a version of Alphabetic Spaghetti especially for the German market that consisted solely of little pasta swastikas.

In average, a human being will have sex more than 3,000 times and spend two weeks kissing in their lifetime.

More than 50% of the people in the world have never made or received a telephone call.

Rats and horses can't vomit.

The "sixth sick sheik's sixth sheep's sick" is said to be the toughest tongue twister in the English language.

If you sneeze too hard, you can fracture a rib. If you try to suppress a sneeze, you can rupture a blood vessel in your head or neck and die.

if you keep your eyes open by force, they can pop out.

Rats multiply so quickly that in 18 months, two rats could have over million descendants.

Wearing headphones for just an hour will increase the bacteria in your ear by 700 times.

If the government has no knowledge of aliens, then why does Title 14, Section 1211 of the Code of Federal Regulations, implemented on July 16, 1969, make it illegal for U.S. citizens to have any contact with extraterrestrial or their vehicles?

In every episode of Seinfeld there is a Superman somewhere.

The cigarette lighter was invented before the match.

Thirty-five percent of the people who use personal ads for dating are already married.

A duck's quack doesn't echo, and no one knows why.

23% of all photocopier faults worldwide are caused by people sitting on them and photocopying their buttocks.

In the course of an average lifetime you will, while sleeping, eat 70 assorted insects and 10 spiders.

Most lipstick contains fish scales.

Cat's urine glows under a black-light.

Like fingerprints, everyone's tongue print is different.

Over 75% of people who read this will try to lick their elbow.

I didn't try to lick my elbow, and also I don't give much credibility to many of the claims here. A duck's quack doesn't echo, and no one knows why. What rubbish!

And furthermore, If the government has no knowledge of aliens, then why does Title 14, Section 1211 of the Code of Federal Regulations, implemented on July 16, 1969, make it illegal for U.S. citizens to have any contact with extraterrestrial or their vehicles? isn't a fact, it's a question.

Airways1, the duck's quack thing is absolutely true. Also, the strange fact they are giving you on the alien thing is not that aliens exist, but that that unusual piece of legislation exists. The author merely presented that fact with his own ponderence.

P.S. I don't believe you when you tell us you didn't try to lick your elbow heh heh  Big grin

No. They say "bless you" because sneezing is a sign of illness. How, pray tell, could anybody have found that the heart paused for a thousandth of its cycle when sneezing, without the most modern medical equipment?

In a study of 200,000 ostriches over a period of 80 years, no one reported a single case where an ostrich buried its head in the sand (or attempted to do so - apart from Bones ).

Somebody actually conducted a huge study that lasted 80 years, even though it would yield no other benefit than to contradict a few cartoons?

Between 1937 and 1945 Heinz produced a version of Alphabetic Spaghetti especially for the German market that consisted solely of little pasta swastikas.

Heinz set up a secret German division that hasn't survived in other records, and broke the embargo, solely in order to supply pasta swastikas to those few Germans who actually adored the symbol? It's an interesting idea.

A duck's quack doesn't echo, and no one knows why.
Of course duck's quacks echo! How could ducks imbue their quacks with some special sonic properties that prevent the sounds reflecting from distant surfaces?

Nobody knows why because it's completely false, and the only people who believe things like this are busy spending all their day forwarding such banal messages, buying penis enlargement pills, and engaging in lucrative contracts with the nieces of deceased Nigerian oil magnates.

Sorry. I'm in a bad mood.  Big grin

Look up the Audible Fowl Resonance Repeater Research Committee and look for the info. They've conducted numerous tests on the duck quacks and prove they absolutely do not echo. Their advancement on the understanding of this phenomenon tells us that it has something to do with the unique frequency pitch sequence. This FPS is no where else on Earth and can only be found in some interplanatary volcanic activity. Amazing stuff. It is speculated that ducks gained this feature in the evolutionary process. The Thiamopasaur was a notorious duck eater and would hunt ducks in the morning. They would target the larger groups of ducks who would hide in deep carverns created by rock formations. When ducks quacked in these, the echo confused the Thia into think there were many more ducks than there really were. To avoid being targeted, the duck developed its notorious unechoable quack. Ducks that echoed were eaten.

The insect eating while sleeping is untrue. The numbers are close to yearly intake though.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Look at it this way, they're a good source of protein.

First of all, look up the Title 14 CFR. This particular CFR has been deleted. Secondly, look at the date it was enacted and think about what happened just 4 days later (HINT: "The Eagle has landed"). THAT is why such legislation was enacted - because of the unknown.

Well, I've dated a girl or two who could lick their elbows. Also, I have read many times that the average USA diet includes yearly ingestion of various insects measured by the pounds while eating, from cereals and grains, to other processed foodstuffs. As IMissPiedmont sez, it's just protein.

"You take the Good, You take the bad;
You take them both and then you have:
The Facts of Life! The Facts of Life!"

I thought that was what this threat was about!  Smile

Okay, I am buying the duck echo thing for a couple of reasons: I am no engineer, but I am sure it has something to do with the properties of the sound waves that are emitted from a duck when he quacks. In order to echo, the sound has to bounce off of something and return intact. My guess is that the sound waves dissipate before they can be returned. Why, I don't have a clue.

The second reason is something I think that is called a "phantom battle." Supposedly, during the American Civil War, there were times that commanders could be watching a battle from a few hundred yards that included cannon fire, but could not hear it. For some reason, the sound waves were surpressed as they traveled from the battle to the observers and no sound was heard.

So, if a man can watch, but not hear a cannon fire, then a duck can quack and not produce an echo.
