Restaurant In NY With Good Views Of Skyline?

Thu Oct 16, 2003 11:42 am

I guess I am talking from Brooklyn or even Staten Island.

Can anyone suggest some restaurants or bars with a good view of the skyline? All I can think of is the RIver Cafe.

THanks.

I'm not sure, but if you visit NYC you should definitely have cocktails in the rotating bar at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. It's a cool way to see Times Square.

of course there [sigh] was Windows on the World, but that was in happier times.

its not necessairily a skyline view, but the winter garden at groun zero is defiantely a great place to eat. i wouldnt say that they have hardcore restaurants, but its worth a shot.

not too familiar with manhattan, but in queens [not too far from LGA], theres 'Terrace on the Park'. havent been up there, but it certaintly is elevated and should present a nice view of the immediate area and definately most/all of manhattan. and like i said, theres a plus--right near LGA  Big grin. its located prettymuch where the 1956 Worlds Fair was, and still stands.

Above the Bentley Hotel in NYC there is a nice bar...I forgot the name, but I know it's on the 21st floor.

There might be a decent place in Hoboken, just ten minutes from Manhattan via Ferry.

You may also want to look into the Liberty Cruise Line.
They do dinner and lunch cruises leaving from NYC or across the river in NJ.
Lunch being cheaper of course!

All the good views of NYC are from NJ, especially Hoboken, Weehawken and Edgewater.

Lots of great places to eat in Hoboken and Weehawken.

By Tuesday. just looking for a place in Brooklyn with great views of the city where I can get a few drinks and some chow.

Riverside is a bit expensive and more for a romantic dinner. I'm just planning on taking some visiting associates out for a drink and chow.

Thanks for all the responses though thus far.

My friend mentioned a "grimaldi's". Any good? Open late?

Nota bene: looking for a place that will be open for us when we arrive around 10 PM.

I had lunch at Windows on the World back in 1999....great food, service, and the view...well, let's just say it was a perfect way to spend an afternoon.

Is the "Sky Club" still open? I think it was either in the Pan Am building (sorry, I refuse to call it the MetLife building) or the Chrysler building...not sure which one.

Just an update.

After all that, I went to Pete's Restaurant, just up the road from Grimaldi's and with a MUCH BETTER better view of the skyline, right from your dinner table.

Thanks to Cancidas for that suggestion. I went On Saturday night with WesternDH from concordesst.com and my lady.

SOrry Tom, I will have to hit NJ sopts another time. Brooklyn was much easier.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
