Woohoo! Game 7 tomorrow, with a rematch of that fun pitching duel from this past Saturday: Martinez vs. Clemens.

Its about time the Red Sox bats came alive!

Well, as a life-long Detroit Tiger fan (ten years of misery, but 2 World Series titles in my lifetime), I prefer all of the "icon" teams except the Yanks. By "icon" teams I mean those that were charter members of the respective leagues. In any event, I wish the Bosox a better fate than befelled the poor Cubbies.

Clemens is forced to bat when Joe Torre uses all of his pinch hitters. Sox bring in secret signee Mike Piazza to pitch. Clemens has to run into clubhouse to change his pants.

Don Zimmer rushes choirboy singing the national anthem, but plate in his head attracts the microphone, which conks him in the head. He pretends he's hurt when the Yanks lose and goes to the hospital. Pedro sends two tickets to Game 1 of the World Series.

Grady Little stayed with Pedro too long this inning. He should have played the percentages, although, looking at the way the BoSox bullpen has been a sieve most of the year, I can see why he stayed with Pedro-for at least one batter. Keeping him in for two more was a huge error, though.

Florida vs NY=the end of the baseball season for many fans outside FL and NY. In that scenario, I would find out on Yahoo the next day who won the series while checking the headlines. Florida is just not steeped in tradition--nothing personal, they just dont do anything for me. NY has tradition, but they have won it so much, that the sport is threatened with extinction by boredom.

I don't like the Yankees for obvious reasons. And the Marlins are now owned by the man who destroyed baseball in Montreal (Jeffrey Loria).

If the Yankees win, that's the end of my baseball season...

Cubs-Boston World Series: Excellent
Cubs-Yankees World Series: Exciting due to Chicago
Boston-Marlins World Series: Exciting due to Boston
Yankees-Marlins World Series: I have no desire to watch

A collective 10 outs away from the greatest World Series of our time. But instead we get this.

Ugh, can't believe the Sox lost. Well I'm definitely rooting for the Marlins.

Why doesn't anybody want to watch this world series? The Marlins are an exciting team to watch, with amazing defense out on the field. The Yankees are the big thugs, and if the Marlins can bring them down, it will be an exciting series. Nobody gives the Marlins enough credit. The brought down the Giants, and made a remarkable comeback to beat the Cubs.

I think this year's Marlins did a lot to atone for their purchased 1997 championship. These kids scrapped and chewed their way to the world series. They may not be steeped in tradition, but a few more seasons like this will have them well on their way.

Now, ze Yankees must schlay zem. Brootally.

Anyone notice how eerily similar the Cubs and Red Sox both blew their games. One was in game 6, one in game 7. Both teams had 3 run leads, with 1 out in the 8th inning, both 5 outs away from a pennant; both had an ace pitcher on the mound.

Amazing.
