Men's Plaid Suits: Will There Be A Comeback?

I am not a fashionable person at all but I think loud plaid suits are awesome. When plaid suits come back in style for guys, I will be the first to have my girlfriend buy me one!
I think a brown & beige plaid suit design with a brown silk dress shirt with large collars would just be the ultimate statement of class and elegance.

Even Republicans had style back in the 1970s. Smile

Plaid was also great for car interiors. Smokin cool

My first car; a 1974 Ford Pinto (not pictured) was a peasoup green with a green & yellow plaid interior.
Just a great looking earthtone vehicle. Smokin cool

Does anyone know if any airline had plaid interiors?

Perhaps some of the ladys, gay dudes and others who follow fashion could give some positive input. Smile

I actually had a biology teacher in high school that could still wear all his plaid suits from the 70s and he did wear them. I really hope these things never come back.

I always sort of thought you made your own style. If you like the suit superfly wear it. You might start a trend. (please don't start a trend)

Without commenting on my personal feelings regarding plaid, I think the more important question is whether men's suits will come back, period. As was discussed on another recent thread, the suit and tie are rapidly going the way of the dodo...

Will plaid suits make a comeback? I have taken the liberty of destroying them. As a gay man, I weep for the day that happens. Plaid only looks good on blankets and kilts.

It must be a science teacher thing. When I was in high school, I also had a biology teacher that wore plaid suits every Friday to celebrate the weekend.
This was in 1987/88.

The first one that you posted was absolutely dreadful. The others were a little better, but not much.

I think that they will eventually, however not anytime soon.

Plaid suits will make a comeback about the same time leisure suits do.

As for suits in general being on the decline, blame it on the casualization of fashion. I own one suit, and honestly, I've worn it twice in the nearly two years I've owned it (wore it to a wedding and to my high school reunion). Most guys will only wear a suit to weddings and funerals. I remember going to church with my grandparents and nearly every man in that church wore a suit; I've driven past a church on a Sunday and probably a fourth of the men were wearing suits. Occassions that used to call for wearing a suit have now gone casual, and that is honestly said. I mean people used to dress up to go on flights, now they wear whatever they feel comfortable in. I love my suit, but just don't have the chance to wear it as often as I like.

Will there be a comeback?? --- Like everything else in my lifetime.....there will be a comeback. I can see it now, Plaid Suits with "elephant pants" or "stove pipes". For those of you who are young bucks these type of pants had a really large leg were very fitted (around the a$$). And no I don't mean the type of pants the young guys are wearing down around their knees with plumbers butt. These were pants that had class.

Come on now, some of you guys must have had plaid pants!!! Be honest. Big thumbs up

Superfly, 1st Question ??? When was you last piss test ??? I can see a big part of your problem is early exposure to a "Pinto" I can see how this could cause problems later in life.

You should have been around 10 years ago when my uncle passed away. He wore his plaid suits all the way to his grave in the 90s.

My Uncle Bones was buried in a lime green plaid suit, similar to Superfly's Pinto seats.
I know the exact pattern because my Grandma's Maverick had that interor back in the 70s.
