I'm still in doubt but I'm almost sure that tonorrow I'll go to buy a new car.
I think my car MUST be German and must not cost too much, so I decided to buy a Polo.
On magazines there are pics of a renewed type of Polo but I0m not sure they'll be put into production.
I chose to buy a Polo 1.4 75 HP, 5 doors, confortline. Blue or silver. I0ll add the "climatic", not the "climatronic" and an "adequate" hifi system.
What do you think about it?

I know that 75hp are not so many, but I think that they're perfect for that type of car, for that weight.

You could also consider importing a Polo FSI from a country where they're sold. Would be similar to the way my family's last car was bought, it's a Passat "re-imported" from Italy.

I dont know if it's your taste, but I had a Seat Ibiza the other weekend as a rental car. I was stunned at the performance of this little car. 75hp, top speed 195km/h, 0-80 (for inner city sprints) in 8,0 seconds. Nice interior, well crafted. Essentially this is a German car (as they are owned and operated by VW) so I'd recommend you take a test drive in this baby. Should be cheaper than a Polo as well!

The Polo looks nice. Though it is somewhat pricey IMO. I would probably also look at a SEAT or Skoda to get something cheaper. Same mechanicals, some platform, overall fit and finish reasonably close to VW standards.
As for a Polo or something similiar in NA... I will believe it when I see it. Given VW of America's notoriously slow rate of new product introduction we might see something of that size around 2007 or so.....

Have you considered the 1.4 TDI version? The Polo is a nice little car well suited for Europe. I would try for the TDI version though. Keep us posted!
And yes, it would be nice to see VW bring the Polo to take on the Echo, Hyundai's, Aveos, etc etc. It is a nice quality product, but VW is probably not sure it could bring it in at a competitive price.

Speak for yourself. It is now clear that many of us know what the Polo is.
It seems like a nice little car, a knock-off of the Jetta. The styling is nice, and as long as you're happy with dishing out the money for that car, I, like many others, say go for it!

does the car have to be brand new for you?If so then you must go for the Polo but if no then have you looked at used and little bigger cars?im talking about 1-3 year old cars here they should loose theyr sale value in your country too that much that you can get one with the same price as the new Polo.Im just saying this because i had a small car and got boored to it pretty soon and it just was too small for me and my stuff..(Opel Corsa).

I've driven a small car like that many times. I agree, you get a great feel for the road in them - when the road is warm and dry. When it's cold, slippery and with 2 feet of snow..... I'll take my truck.

How do you even need 75 hp? That car has a maximum weight of just above 1,5 metric tons, so 75 hp is plenty of power! It's not like a car needs more than 150 hp to be a fun ride, geez!

Flight152, they buy based on engine size. Certain European countries, Italy included, are taxed based on engine size. Going from a 1.4 to a 1.8 for instance is a very expensive option in Italy. Also with fuel being so expensive, they have to get small engines to maximize fuel economy.

My 1st car was a banged up Opel Stationwagon..and after my share of american cars, Pontiacs, Buicks, T-Birds...the europeans (esp. the germans) do have great taste and make great autos! -- except the French Citroen (the old ones) -- what's that all about? After doing beemers, I'm about the change one Benz for another one! nothing but Uber Autos for me now!

Well, I suggest not crashing into something! Ans passive safety is getting better and better, without the need of having several tonnes of metal surrounding you. Yes, a crash Polo vs. Trailblazer won't ever be a nice thing, but we don't exactly have many Trailblazers over here.

Thank you Wietze, the only thing I'm not so happy about is the fact that the seats in the Trendline versione, are "sport" and I would have preferred the "confort", but the discount was good.

Im thinking you have trucks, lightpoles and trees over there in Germany...last time I checked in July they were still there.

I honestly dont know where he lives, BTW IF there is ice 4WD helps alot, your front tires could be sliding on ice while your back ones are not on iced surface.
