Are there anyone of you aout there who are from Strasbourg or has been to Strasbourg, France?
I was actually planning to do a little spotting trip around in the area and Strasbourg is in my plans if the airport is interesting.
Has any of you ever done some spotting here and is it a good place where you can spend some hours?

Don't come here for the airport. It's very small and uninteresting.
To see planes, you'd better go to Frankfurt or Bale/Mulhouse.

Well, if you work in Mulhouse, you definitely need to visit Strasbourg. The center is small, but lovely.
You could also visit small Alsacian villages, and follow the "wine road" (bring another driver for that
)

And oh yes I will bring some extra drivers with me. We are actually 3 friends and I who are going around to se stuff in Alsace and in Switzerland.
So if they offer free wine taste they damn sure can count on me beeing there

And if your work in BSL, on your way to Strasbourg, don't forget to visit Colmar, the villages around, and have a meal in Illhausern, at the Auberge de l'Ill.
And if you don't have it, just don't forget the Musuem pass. It gives you free access to about 140 museums in Basel area, Alsace and Germany.
(When you know the price of the Auto Museum in Mulhouse, or the Ecomusee d'Alsace, in 3 to 4 days, it is reimbursed, and the pass is valid for 1 year)

I've only been to Strasbourg once, for about a week to visit a friend there, and I loved it. The City of Strasbourg is one of the most beautiful cities on earth. It has a very modern tram running through the entire city and is very bike-friendly. The people are very friendly, the ladies decent, and the prices reasonable. A good way to meet people is just to walk through l'orangerie and see what's going on. While you're there, you should eat some Alsatian pizza and drink Kier. If you're going with friends, it should be a blast. Have fun!

The Alsalce area is one of the most interesting in Europe... there's a very beautiful "merge" between the Franc-German worlds.All area at the French-German border is nice.I really do like it!

I can just add that you really should visit Colmar. It is a very nice place. From there "la route du vin" (whine road) starts!

Strasbourg is an awesome place. One of the few places in France I wished I could have spent more time in. Great food, good shopping, and friendly people. The architecture is beautiful being historic but yet modern, a wonderful mix. I remember one of the local kids was a brat, and he kept kicking his soccer ball at our group. So one of the people in our group kicked the ball back at him.....about 100 feet over his head, so he ended up chasing it. He had a few things to say (in French) about that, but stopped none the less.
