Whilst I have some time off-work, im setting myself a goal to achieve, to spend a whole week (268 hours) without sleeping.
I know it sounds crazy, but ive always wanted to "push" myself, into achieveing something.
I mean ive tried it for 3 days, and that was bad, but never a week before...anyone got any ideas on how to kill the time, or things to do..

Its really to see how id shape up if I was ever in a hostage situation, Ive tried the white noise (whilst standing for 5 hours) before (lol I had the house to myself,) I just want to say "ive done it" you know..I mean not everyones crazy enougth to stay awake 268 hours lol (starting in 2hrs time)..

I like looking at a white wall for about three days. It seems to make the time pass rather well. Then the fourth day change color and you will trip out.

Sleep deprivation can lead to permanent health damage beyond a certain point (even death). I´ve not gone quite that far, but believe me, it´s a really, really bad idea.

If you really want to push yourself into doing something, why not choose something a bit safer? Like getting to know 20 new people, or visiting 5 places you've never been before...something along those lines.
Not sleeping for a week will just make you feel like sh*te and as others have said, is really not good for you - do something positive instead mate.

Why do you think sleep deprivation is considered torture? If you do this to yourself against the will of your body, you're endangering your health. When your body tells you to sleep, you need to sleep. I'm not talking about three days without sleep, but one week must be too much.

Actually 1 week=168 hours. Wouldn't want you to go 268 and only take credit for a week.

Why on earth would you want to see what you'd be like in a hostage situation?? I'm sure that people who've been in that unfortunate situation would say that there's a bit more to it than being deprived of sleep for a week. For goodness sake, use your precious time off work for something a bit more constructive!

Why not try something less risky, like jumping out of a helicopter with (or perhaps without) a parachute? Or a nice round of Russian Roulette?
Seriously though, I wouldn't try a stunt like that - even if it's for the glamorous goal of being able to say "I did that" - without a doctor around... what you're trying to do is dangerous, and it cause severe medical problems.
If you're still going ahead with it, read this - and rethink the idea once more...

I have a "toy gun" that I have, a small BB one (like a rifle), i put a scope on it, and a small laser-light thing lol.
Simulating being a snipe, I was lying in my garden 2 hours in the rain, before I finally took the shot..
I like to do "army" stuff on my own, because I cant go in the army for medical purposes, so the next best thing is to "act" like im in it lol..
It might seem childish to some, but it gives me discipline and respect for others.

I did 93 hours once during finals week in college (belive me, I counted)...It was not fun. I was pretty well screwed up for a month after that.
God I love the smell of avgas in the morning!!!

Rob, are you crazy??? Believe me....it is not good for your health and you may suffer the effects for the rest of your life.
Your only 16 - 20 can you not find something else that would be more beneficial to do??? Your only young........and seem to have a very creative mind...you should be able to come up with something that will not physically or mentally have a long-term effect on you??

I did about 100 hours on a trip to Asia... I ate nothing and drank only Coca-Cola... I slept the entire flight home and the next 23 hours.

some people are TOO bored. if you want a challenge find something healthy. how about trying to visit the northern and southern end of the british island within a week without using any transportation except your feet and trying to get lifts?

I did one of those things once. Me and my friend walked 55 km during night time and ended being awake for 48 hrs.
With that in mind, I dare say you should get a decent hobby...
Anyways, I understand the "thing" you have for doing these kinda things. I'm a little like that too. But hey, try being awake for, let's say 3 days and then move on to staying awake for longer periods of time.
