Seattletimes Endorses Kerry 2004

Fri Aug 27, 2004 4:54 pm

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/editorialsopinion/2002016659_kerryed27.html

"Four years ago, this page endorsed George W. Bush for president. We cannot do so again — because of an ill-conceived war and its aftermath, undisciplined spending, a shrinkage of constitutional rights and an intrusive social agenda The Bush presidency is not what we had in mind. Our endorsement of John Kerry is not without reservations, but he is head and shoulders above the incumbent"

This is what happens when the President of the USA ignores your state which had the highest unemployment rate in the lower 48 states.....This is what happens when the President of the USA only uses your state as a campaign pocketbook......This here endorsement pretty much wraps up Washington for Kerry in 2004.

Bush has been only concerned with 7 states since taking office... PA,IN,OH.IL,NY,MI,FL and lets not forget his vacation get away from the problems he's created state of TX.....He has visited those for a total greater than 100 times.

Bush made a fool out himself while in Seattle for a campaign fundraiser 2 weeks ago where he raised 2.4 mil for his pocket.......Remember he asked the Europeans to level the playing field in regards to Airbus subsides.....this was the same President that pissed those same Europeans off by invading Iraq....I really don't think they will listen.....why should they???....Oh....Bush made his comments in front of only 30 screened workers and CORP EXECS...Ill bet all Bush supporters too

I hope the Nevada papers follow suit after what Bush broke his promise in regards to Yacca Mountian..

You do realize that Kerry voted for Yucca Mountain?

Besides Seattle isn't exactly the most mainstream town anymore, Hasn't been since that "Turn out the lights" sign went up on I-5 years ago.

It is a pretty left wing town, so this isn't surprising.

I will always have Seattle in my heart...when visiting my parents in Dec. 2002, I had my first run-in with an anti-war protester (albeit she was 60 years old and just handing out pamphlets.) Big grin

Whoop de doo. A liberal rag endorses the liberal candidate.

Must be a slow news day if you're having to resort to posting stuff like this.

B757300: Whoop de doo. A liberal rag endorses the liberal candidate.

For some reason, that "liberal rag" had endorsed Bush last time around. Strange...  Insane

Yes, Klaus, he forgot to mention that, didn't he?  Laugh out loud

I'm sure B757300 will be the first to gloat when a usual conservative rag, like the Cleveland Plain Dealer, endorses Bush. Hell, they endored Bob Dole and Barry Goldwager, for God's sake.  Laugh out loud

Anyone who doesn't follow B757300's extreme, RWAK dogma, and just bow to whatever Bush says, is not a good enough Republican for me. The fact is, McCain is more of a true Republican than B757300 will ever be in his lifetime, because he doesn't just tow the line and nod his head.

There is no way Washington is going for Bush, with or without a Seattle Times endorsement, and Bush spending much time or money campaigning here would be a waste (just like you don't see Kerry in WY or TX much). Unfortunately, it looks like Patti "Tennis-Shoes," "bin Laden-Daycare-Centers" Murray is going to grace the Senate with her august presence for six more years. Dino Rossi (gubernatorial candidate) has about even odds in November, though.

B2707SST, how come it it guys like you always have to call a Democrat names, as in the fine tradtion of B757300? We know what you think of liberals, but maybe calling her "Senator Murray", instead of such worthless, idiotic name-calling might make you look a little more intelligent, perhaps?

I'm sorry, but anyone who really thinks that Osama bin Laden's popularity in the Arab world is due to his construction of daycare centers and other civic works for the disadvantaged in Afghanistan is worthy of disdain. Osama bin Laden is popular because he wants to kill Americans, and this goal resonates in a region filled with anti-American bitterness. Patty Murray's vapid comments are not only embarrassing to her constituents, they show that she does not grasp the very serious situation the US finds itself in.

worthless, idiotic name-calling might make you look a little more intelligent, perhaps

This coming from the originator of "RWAK." I can't count how many times you have slapped patronizing and contemptuous labels on members who disagree with you. Have you checked your signature lately: "Crawford is short one idiot-find him and send him home"?

Their isnt a WA state REPUB this year that has impressed me yet.

>Have you checked your signature lately: "Crawford is short one idiot-find him and send him home<<<........That isnt name calling.....that is the truth.

B2707SST, then act like an ignorant fool. It's no skin off my nose. Seems like you righties always have to denigrate a political figure you don't like. At least I have the class to call President Bush just that, or "Mr. Bush".

Labeling you as a RWAK, and calling people denigrating names, as you do, well, I don't see how their that similar. But when you grow up, maybe you'll get it. But I'm not betting on it.

Way to go Seattle. Kerry slaps the countries that Boeing is depending on for the 7E7, their bread and butter, then the Seattle Times endorses him.

Idiots.

seems like you righties always have to denigrate a political figure you don't like.

Alpha 1:

I'm sorry that you're so engrossed in your partisanship that you can't recognize your own contradictions. How you think calling Bush an idiot is any less denigrating if you preface it with "Mr." or "President" is beyond me. You would seriously be less upset if I had called her Senator Patty "Tennis-Shoes," "bin Laden-Daycare-Centers" Murray? If so, that reaches a new and totally absurd level of hairsplitting.

Maybe if you actually lived in Washington and had to listen to SENATOR Patty Murray (happy now?) spout off about this issue -- we need protectionism to defend WA's farmers -- or that issue -- Boeing needs open and unrestricted access to foreign markets -- in contradictory befuddlement, you wouldn't be so quick to defend her.

By the way, unlike RWAK or "ignorant fool," these aren't denigrating names that I made up: Patty Murray ran her first campaign on the premise that she was a soccer mom in tennis shoes, not an "beltway career politician." In late 2002, she gave a talk to Vancouver high school students in which she opined that Osama bin Laden is popular because:

"He's been out in these countries for decades, building schools, building roads, building infrastructure, building day-care facilities, building health-care facilities, and these people are extremely grateful. We haven't done that. We haven’t been out in many of these countries helping them build infrastructure. How would they look at us today if we had been there helping them with some of that, rather than just being the people who are going to bomb in Iraq and go to Afghanistan?"

And to cap it off, in her current bid for a third term, Patty Murray's campaign commercials blast the Bush administration because we're building schools and fire stations in the Middle East instead of in the US! And you can possibly defend someone who makes these simply bizarre statements?

Takes one to know one, I suppose. But please, keep trying to spin your way out of your own blatant contradictions. It makes for entertaining reading.

Randall, you do know that Kerry feels the same way as the man you love to hate regarding the Boeing/Airbus issue, right?

But, I am sure there is some spin that justifies anger towards Bush for this, but not Kerry.

Game. Set. Match.

Edit: Adding more linkage.

Bronko.....

Keep somthing in mind....John Kerry didnt tell The Europeans to go to Hell in regards to Iraq.....GWB had a agenda with Iraq......Ask yourself this.....Did the USA have to start their attack in Iraq in March 2003????....what was the real rush....I was once behind GWB all the way in regards to Iraq.....we stil have yet to find the massive stockpiles of WMD and Bio Chemical agents......remeber we let the UN search for over two months prior to the war and the DOD/CIA failed to turn over info to them that would have lead them directly to the so called stockpiles the US believed they had.

GWB asking the Europeans for consessions is like asking your wife for intamacy after you have played around with another women.

BTW good to see you get involved in these debates.

A liberal rag in a liberal half of the state endorsing a liberal. Next thing you'll be shocked when they endorse Patty Murray. The west side of this state is so far left I'm surprised it hasn't slid into the ocean.
