Hello,

I was just wondering who here is a drummer? I've been taking drumming lessons since the beginning of the summer, and I hope to soon be the drummer in our jazz/swing choir group.

Right Here!!!

I'm more into Rudimental percussion now, that sh!t is CRAZY and MUCH harder than drumset in my opinion.

Drummer here.

Played for 18 years.

College band was called 'The Bloody Nipples'.

Play every Friday night with some degenerates who were raised in the early 70's, yet know how to rock their asses off!

Pearl 5-piece - Export toms, Paiste cymbals.

Rock On, Aero...

I was, I 'retired' after last year when I left school. But I would still play if I had the necessary equiptment (all I have are sticks and a snare drum)

Me too. I love it.

(all I have are sticks and a snare drum)

That's all you need. Snare rudiments are a fast disappearing art.

Three generations of professional musicians were bound to leave some musical genes..
Grandad was a pro trumpet, playing with the big bands of the 40 and 50's.
Dad was a pro drummer from end of WW2 (started with Jean "Toots" Thielemans quartet right at liberation), till the early 80's.

Besides 7 years evening school for classic guitar and piano, I loved the drums.
Dad would not leave me to touch his No1 and 2 sets (Ludwig and Premier), I could only qualify for No 3 (Premier Pearl White) but with the top Zildjian cymbals. My only problem were the neighbours, until the fatal day arrived and my father decided to choose to keep the appartment and stop with the noise.

Wow, that's awesome! I didn't know so many of you did drumming. In our lessons we started doing drum beats. Some of the rudiments we did on the pad are...

RLRR LRLL
RLRLRR LRLRLL
RLRLRLRR LRLRLRLL
RLRRLL RLRRLL

and...

rrllrrllRL
llrrllrrllR
rrllRllrrL

And on the drumset...

EDIT: That isn't how I planned for that to look on the drumset part, I don't know what went wrong  Nuts.

wow, I had no idea there were so many percussionists here. I'm a drummer also, but unfortunately as I'm in college I'm seperated from my instrument. I've been playing about 4 years now, and when I'm at home I play a 5-piece Tama Rockstar with some Sabian B8 cymbals on it; thinking of upgrading, but I without access to my set I'm wondering about the practicality of it. In my apartment I have just a pad, set of sticks, metronome, and some photocopies out of the George Stone book to get me by. I've come accross a djembe, but I'm still trying to figure out just how to play it.

Imonti,

IMO that's a very nice thing to say, I wish my gf was still here, but she moved to Denver.

CannibalZ3,

I'm sorry that happened to you, I hope I don't get seperated or don't play it often, I enjoy it very much. However, I guess it's just something inevitable.
