If so, what'd ya do? How'd it work out in the end: charges filed, sentence served??

As for me, I did once in 1998.... for public nudity, along with 14 out of 93 others.

No charges filed, the DA knew about it ahead of time (his son was among those busted). Fun really.

Charges were dropped a couple of months later due to the thing I belted telling the coppers a load of lies in his statement. Acting devilish

Three times, all of them idiotic.Got arrested in the UK on suspicion of rape, no charges were made as the rapist was black and I'm white!

In Myanmar (Burma) I was taking a picture of the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon (famous Buddhist temple) when I got arrested on suspicion of being a journalist (apparently a military vehicle was passing the pagoda as I took the picture and they thought I was taking a picture of that!). To make things worse it was a digital camera and so there was no film I could give them so the army assholes who arrested me smashed my camera and threatened to cut my testicles off. I was then deported. No way on earth am I going there again.

Final time was in China for 'immigration irregularities'. I entered China via Kunming (from BKK) and they stamped my passport. When I tried to leave there was a problem, apparently the doofus at immigration had given me the wrong visa but according to the Chinese it was still my fault and I ended up paying the equivalent of $200USD just to avoid more hassle. Another country I won't be visiting in a hurry again!

While I haven't been arrested myself, I've been held back by cops a couple of times because my non-standard outfit when going to football games. Apparently, anyone not wearing the clubs shirt at an away game is automatically considered a hooligan Insane

I nearly got arrested outside Piccadilly train station in Manchester at some random hour, the police wouldn't let me in or travel cos I was too drunk apparently - luckily my mates were there to calm me down and take me to the chippy to sober up. (like I was in any state to eat!)

Not a pretty night, in many ways!

No, but I came real close in '89 or '90. I was taking a leak in the alley next to a really HOT and CROWDED club when I got a tap on my shoulder. Turning, I had to cut it off in mid-stream to avoid splattering on the cop's shoes. Fortuantely, I worked at a very large and respected company in the area, so I showed him my work ID and after some precarious moments, he said " you know, there are places inside to do that." Close one...

Hey Demoose - I love how we speak totally different languages. What's a chippy - a fish & chips place? I once was with a few friends, one of whom was English, and we got a flat tIre, and she said "...if only we had a torch we could get the spanner out of the boot." We all looked around like "What the F**k language is that???

No never but have been threatened that if I touch some one they will lay an assault charge against me and will then press charges for doing grevious bodily harm or attempting to. Well it looks like tomorrow I will discover weather he is going to, I warned him if I see him I will kill him. Ya, I have a very very short fuse and tried to drive over some one who tried to steal my car. I didnt manage to but I did hit him with the car as I drove at him/into him.

I have a friend, there was a warrant out for his arrest and he turned him self in, then some friends parents bailed him out. His court date is soon for assault, and also attempt to do grevious bodily harm, although I think he was stonned at the time.

I had a kebab from there once and ended up with an arse like a Japanese flag for a week....and it had nothing to do with Canal Street either!

My arrest was due to bumping into someone who had stolen some money from me, so it got resolved in the traditional manner with a punch on the nose.

I have not been arrested, but I have been "stopped and searched" near Myrtle Avenue at LHR. Appears I was standing in the wrong field...

Oh well, the Bobbies were very nice, and since I was cooperative, nothing more happenned.

As a youth..........drinking in public. Hanging in the woods having a few pops. The police just wanted us to move along but one of the girls with us stating mouthing off. They told her to be quiet or they would haul us all in, she wouldn't, so they did......

had to donate $50 to charity as a fine....no biggie.

My one and (hopefully) only arrest was on a bad check charge (I bet you never thought people were ever arrested for that one huh?). Back in the early Summer of 2000, I had written a few bad checks to get me through a rough patch I was having financially and thought I had taken care of all of them when a little more than a year afterwards I got pulled over for speeding and was told that there was a warrant for my arrest on a bad check. A freaking $40 bounced check is what I was arrested for. I ended up spending around 15 hours in jail, the earliest anyone in my family could arrange to bail me out was about 12 hours after I was arrested (I was on my way home from work around 2 in the morning when this happened).

Settled the charge, the charge was expunged (Since I was a first offender) as soon as I completed probation (I got that over with as quick as I could afford to).

There, I feel a little better now, as not too many people outside of my family knew about that incident (heck, there are family members that still don't know about it, and never will if I can see to it).

Just 2 hours ago, big fight in a bar....... Half my town is Arab, and the other half is extreme right... ( South of France...) Those two groups did mix .... Bad idea.... specially after todays attacks... The combination of alcohol and people celebrating innocent deaths..... If the police wasn't there I would have killed him... I'm still soooooooooo angry.... At the end they got arrested, not us.. that's justice.

I was nearly arrested by Spanish police once, for having sex on the beach (and not the cocktail) Luckily we noticed just in the nick of time and scarpered.

Only one worth mentioning:

arrested manu militari on the outskirts of Lungi airport (Freetown-Sierra Leone)
at 23:00 on a very humid night

charges: trying to enter the country illegally

result: had to endure "questioning" (no physical violence though) by a 120kg thick (estimation), greasy and sweating major of the national security with a nice Chromed Colt 45 on the side
spent a long hour in a typical African cell: original paint from colonial times, bare ground, water flowing from the walls, a wooden polished bank that had a long history to tell, African-size insects and usual background noise from buffalo-frogs.

Fact is I was illegal, but had no bad intentions...

No, but very nearly for taking photos from the perimeter of Sung Shan Airport, Taipei. A truck of about 6 plain-clothed police came up. Fortunately none of them could speak english, so after confiscating the film from my camera, I think they couldn't be bothered to pursue it any further.

Never been legitimately arrested. I did go through one night as an undercover narc being processed akin to an arrestee though. It was not a pleasant experience in Fulton County Jail knowing that if I maintained my cover the deputies would probably beat my ass up and if my cover got blown the inmates would definitely kill me. And the perp I was watching never even opened his big mouth....

Other narrow scrapes :

a) My infamous incident with US INS at Toronto airport in 2002 when I was illegally detained for 3 days, interrogated without either a lawyer or consular notification, beaten up and forced to sign a false confession. I subsequently received an apology from the State Department.

b) Frankfurt airport in 1998. I was heading to BOM on Air India in transit from Chicago after finishing off a long days work at the Police Department in Atlanta. For some reason I stuck my uniform jacket into my rollaboard without noticing that I had forgotten to remove my cuffs and my tear gas cannister from my sleeve pocket. Atlanta and Chicago security failed to even notice it, but at Frankfurt they went ballistic and had me up against the wall with automatic weapons pointed at me until I could stutter "Nein, ich bein polizei amerikanisch" and produce some ID.

c) My 2001 run-in with the Ontario Provincial Police on the 401 just west of Pearson airport for doing 194kmh in a 100kmh zone. They should have arrested me on the spot, but thankfully the sergeant was from the same Canadian Forces reserve unit as my cousin and cut me a break.

d) In a European country that shall remain nameless, I was waiting for a friend outside an unmarked building that housed various US interests. A US Secret Service agent approached me and asked for ID but I told him to take a hike. He then called the local cops who I did provide with ID and was allowed to continue waiting.

Yes, for vandalism. We werent charged or fined even though the damage was estimated over 1000 €.

Then there is one other incident that was featured on TV, but the cops never spoke to me about it.

In a story similar to B747-437B's, I was held at gunpoint for over four hours at FCO. My passport pic at the time was from when I was 15, and, had aged some. He handed me a slip of paper and told me "write name,"

I wrote it, just as he had asked...apparently he meant signature, and, due to the inconsistencies between my written name and the signature on my passport, was detained and charged on-the-spot with carrying false identificaiton. So there I was, in a small room with Italian INS equivalents, neither of whom spoke clear English, and every one of them was armed and fingers-on-the-trigger. ( Later observations would show me that this was common practice at FCO ).

I was also picked-off for failing to pay a speeding ticket within the 10 days...ridiculous.

I've had a few close calls, like running out the back door drunk as hell when I was in high school when the cops showed up at a party--that happened a couple times. Then in Dallas, I was pulled over with unpaid city parking tickets and the cop said 'Listen, I should arrest you for unpaid tickets, but its a waste of both of our time. So pay your ticket.'

I was questioned for suspision of armed robery, but nothing on my record (touch wood). I was also told that I rapped someone, but nothing came from it.
Haven't been arrested though.

I love the old college stories. Back at Gonzaga, we were having a big party at our house when one of the kegs ran out. Seeing as it was only 9, we thought it'd be best if we ran to the bar a few blocks down and picked up another. I had just got home from work, but I'd had a couple and my roomies were in no shape to drive. We kept a golf cart in the garage for general tomfoolery and various hijinx. Off we went on the short 4 block jaunt to the bar, we picked up the keg, strapped it down, and with the rear end sagging and scraping we were off. 2 blocks later, the blue lights came on.

A somewhat bemused cop said he was surprised to see a golf cart go flying through an intersection with a keg strapped on the back. Another cop & campus security, however were not so amused. He ran me through the field sobriety test, which I passed, but he wasn't buying it. He still arrested me, on suspicion, fortunately, two of the guys that I lived with, their dad's were senior officers in the department. A couple phone calls, One of them met me at the jail, where I blew a .02 (legal). The young guy was upset, and stuck me with some charge driving an unregistered vehicle. Paid the fine, got back to the party with in 2 hours. I've got a picture somewhere of the golf cart...I'll have to look.
