Most Expensive Stuff On Earth
What is the most expensive stuff on earth? Dont say something like 'gold' or 'cocaine,' I'm talking big league. Whats the single object that has sold for the most money, and the substance that goes for the most money per weight? I would expect it to be some really rare element, but please enlighten me.

Concerning material things I would assume one of the very rare exotic elements which can only be made in microgram amounts in a particle accelerator.
During my last years of high school I used to hang around a physics lab of the Free University of Berlin (the Physics department was quite close to my school and I used to help the physicists in the research labs). We had a cabinet with lots of weird elements in little glass tubes, mostly rare earth elements, but other stuff like gold was also among them. The gold was actuslly the cheapest stuff around there.
The scientists would grow cristalls out of diverse mixtures of these elements and measure certain solid state properties.
