UK: Homer Simpson A Better Candidate Than Bush

Tue Oct 26, 2004 8:48 am

http://edition.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/europe/10/25/homer.president.reut/index.html

NOTICE: I am only sharing this to add some much needed COMIC RELIEF to the whole re-election situation we are finding ourselves in! I am NOT sharing this in an attempt to create a new Kerry/Bush feud. I am merely sharing this to promote some of the "lighter side" moments that this election (in all its polls and discussions) has produced, and I would like to hope that others who read this can find some other light-hearted, 'poking-fun-at' the 2004 election examples as well.

PLEASE don't shoot the messenger!

Cheers!

So you don't want comments like:

That's why we don't let Brits vote in the election.
Or who cares what Brits think?

So sad, too bad. Big grin

If you compare Bush's idiotic quotes with Homer Simpson's, their IQ seems to be equal  Laugh out loud

• "Put The Off Button On."

• "It's Your Money. You Paid For It."

• "I'm A Follower Of American Politics."

• "I Think We Agree- The Past Is Over."

• "For NASA, Space Is Still A High Priority."

• "The French Don't Have A Word For 'Entrepreneur'."

• "It's Clearly A Budget. It's Got A Lot Of Numbers In It"

• "Families Is Where Our Nation Finds Hope, Where Wings Take Dream."

• "We're Going To Have The Best Educated American People In The World"

• ''I Had No Idea We Had So Many Weapons ... What Do We Need Them For?''

• "It's No Exaggeration To Say That The Undecideds Could Go One Way Or Another."

• "I'm Honored To Shake The Hand Of A Brave Iraqi Citizen Who Had His Hand Cut Off By Saddam Hussein."

Please refer to "Simpson's Favourite Quote" thread for comparison :-

Even Homer could do a better job than Cliff Barnes, the current incumbent.

OYRJA...I read that somewhere, too. I did some snooping and managed to find the link to the story:

HOMER EYES 'BEST AMERICAN' PRIZE

--and--

YOUR GREATEST AMERICAN
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/wtwta/2997144.stm
"Homer Simpson, the lovable head of the Simpson family, has been nominated the greatest American ever in an online poll..."

without a doubt they are right that Homer would be a better President than either Bush or Kerry. Unfortuantly we are not able to run a cartoon for President. Also, Homer hasn't yet been on tv 35yrs, so he is too young.

Also, he may not qualify as a natural born citizen, a lot of The Simpsons is animated in Korea.

N317AS well maybe you should care what the brits think, who is it that went into IRAQ with the US,maybe the brits should bring home all our troop and leave you to go it alone. Sorry guys but it really pisses me of when some americans forget that the brits are your closet allies, and have been there for you,so is it any wonder you get alot of flak about remarks on here, and then wonder why the public over here are starting to get pissed of with the states.

O.K.

So what is the deal with Blood Sausage? Don't you guys eat meat? Or was the Beefies nickname a bunch of bull?
How come the English can't speak english? Adjustable spanner, tele, life, tube ect ect ect?
When are the English going to appologize for Hugh Grant?
And then we have the Scots?
Canned Haggis? Who came up with that? Must have been the British Army equivlent of a K-Rat or Spam?
And then their contribution to sports...Golf? Not nearly as exciting as the Caber toss.

English Aviation......Ever wonder why so many British ideas get improved on in other countries.

Sopwith might have invented the Tri-plane but Fokker took the design and simplified it into a fighting machine.

I Brit might have invented the Merlin engine but it took Packard Motors of the USA to show them how to build it

And finally.

Guys......The right side of the road to drive on is the right side!!!....That is why it is called the RIGHT SIDE

Will that work for you, Go Canada?

L-188, what is "OK" - acknowledgment or an apology for the slur on the Brits, or just a filler whilst you change subject to some more pissing on non-Americans ?

DeskPilot.....

FLVILLA issued a challenge as shown in the italicized portion of his post.

I decided to take him up on it by calling OK.

And in good humor listen some pecularities, as notated by the series of smilie faces.

Haha!!!! When you guys can learn to pronounce words like aluminium, potato, tomato and anything beginning with a Z correctly then you can have a go at our English. Big grin

Lord, I can't believe some people managed to miss the humour in L-188's post.  Insane

Actually, the Americans have the pronunciation of aluminum right. That was its original name, it was the British who changed the spelling to bring it into line with other -ium metals like sodium, potassium, lithium etc. Equally, the Oxford English Dictionary does, and always has, use "z" rather than "s" in words like "authorise/authorize". It just hasn't caught on here.

Now, driving on the right, I do believe, my dear L-188 you are going to be truly horrified by this:  Laugh out loud You drive on the right because the French drive on the right (you wanted to differentiate from the British), and the French drive on the right because Napoleon decided it should be so. The rest of Europe drives on the right because Napoleon conquered them. It is just us proud, undefeated Brits that stick to the true path. You Americans are merely stooges of the French.  Big grin

When are the English going to apologize for Hugh Grant?

You mean we haven't?  Wow! Humble apologies for the oversight, and consider this a grovelling apology for him.

The Scots: Well, you can't blame us for that. Except in that our long standing plan has always been to export them around the world (viz. Iraq at the present time) to keep them away from us. Now, you can't blame us for that, surely.  Big grin

Trouble is, the little buggers breed so fast. We know it can't be through normal primate reproductive methods, since nobody (and this has been proven) would ever sleep with a Scotsman - current theory indicates that they multiply through asexual cellular mitosis, which is very hard to control.
