New Year's Resolution?

Sun Dec 12, 2004 8:54 pm

I know there's plenty of time, but what will be your New Year's resolution? For me, it is simple: I will drink a maximum of 2 pints of alcohol if I go out with my mates (as opposed to the current 8+ thrice-weekly). Hmm.

2005 will be the year I finally quit smoking.....my body is telling me that it is time (37 year of smoking).... and so does my wallet. I will take the $47.00 I spend each week on a carton of cigarettes, put it in a brand new savings account, and next December I will take all of that money and buy myself a new high definition TV.
Having a smoking section in a restaurant is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool.....

Aviance, I love your optimism!

I think my new years res. will be to manage my time better. I've been pretty pathetic when it comes to that kind of thing this year.

I will slim up a bit, not worried about weight in the slightest.
Aim to take twice as many flights as I did this year.
Get things done on time and try revising for my exams.

I'm not a cynic, more of a realist. What is the purpose of making a resolution like this? Odds are after a week or so, you're going to go back to your old habits. Do it for yourself. New Years should not motivate you to change yourself, the drive for change should come internally.

Here's mine:
- Lose weigh and maintain 195lbs the best I can
- Continue to watch my money carefully and cut way down on visits to 'Happy Hour'.
- Get accepted into an MBA program at either Seattle U. or Seattle Pacific Univ., hopefully for Spring or Summer term.
- Hopefully go on more dates.

I wanted to stop smoking cigarettes after New Years. I've been smoking for three years now and since I'm young I wanted to stop before it kills me...I quit two months ago after I came to college and saw kids smoking because it was the cool thing to do...it turned me off and haven't looked back.
(I started smoking because I worked a lot and cigs helped me with my appetite.)

I came to college with 230 lbs under my belt...I'm 190 right now (thank you high strung college girls that know how to party). Don't know if I want to lose anymore, but I know I did want to get sub 200 for new years...already there.

What I'd really like to do next is to find a girl that I would like to go out with. Sure, college + being single = fun...but I sure do miss having my girl by my side at night just relaxing (i.e.- giving be a back rub) and watching tv and not feel awkward because no conversation is taking place. The bars scene gets old, and lets just say boobs look the same after a while, no matter how many different pairs are shoved in your face...butit is very nice  Smile

For what its worth, I cannot smoke, drink, eat bad food after 12/31. I start my diet for my bodybuilding competition. I'm going to have to be very disciplined to do this...

My resolution is to make sure that I keep everyone I know as happy as I can whilst making myself happy at the same time. I would also like to learn not to get so worked up about things and to not exaggerate in certain circumstances.

Regards,

Chris

My resolutions aren't too much to ask lol

  • Work hard at my new job

  • Fly at least twice a week (PIC, not just Delta nonrev)

  • Try to take at least one DL pleasure trip a month

  • Finally buy some sort of house for me and my friends, I'm sick of appartments

  • Start steadily dating my semi-gf Courtney and hopefully see where that goes

  • No more speeding tickets!

  • Actually study

    1. Stop spending so much money on nothing.

I pay out about a third of my wages each month in bills, and just blow the rest on nothing. It's not even like I go out much either, I just don't know where it all goes - (well I do really:- on holidays and flights and car hire and nice hotels and X-box's and dvd players and bikes and my car etc etc).

    2. Try and save some of the said blown cash.

    3. Start flying training at some point this year - even if it's just a PPL, at least it's a start.

Losing 20 lbs. would be nice, but I'll be realistic and just say it won't happen because of my current living situation--in a fraternity house at a university with a really crappy fitness center in a city where the temps are below freezing until April. I think I'll just watch what I eat, try to exercise when I can, and leave it at that.

Stop drinking?! Nah! That's for quitters!
