Favourite REM Album?

Wed Feb 09, 2005 9:06 pm

What is your favourite REM album? There's lot to choose from, including:

Document
New Adventures in Hi-Fi
UP
Monster
Murmur
Green
Out of Time
Around the Sun
Reveal
Eponymous
Reckoning
FABLES OF THE RECONSTRUCTION
LIFE'S RICH PAGAENT
DEAD LETTER OFFICE
The Best of REM
Singles collected
In Time (Best of REM 1988-2003)

For me, it's difficult. I really like New Adventures in Hi-Fi but also Murmur, Out of Time and Singles Collected (a CD with many excellent singles on, like Bandwagon, Wendell Gee, King of the Road, etc).

I am a big REM fan. To date, though, I only have 8 of their CDs, though I am continually searching Ebay.co.uk to get excellent bargains - and I do. My rule is not to pay over £3 per CD, including postage. To date, I have purchased The Best of REM and Document for £2.64 each.  Wink/being sarcastic Big grin

My last thread wasn't about your favourite album, was it? I thought it was about your favourite track. LOL.  Laugh out loud

Life's Rich Pageant, followed closely by Document. Peter Buck at his peak.

Automatic for the people. In Time can't really count as it's a 'best of' album. though I like it!

'Automatic for the People' for me - I wouldn't call myself a true REM fan (unlike by brother!) but I loved what they were doing for those years.

On a slightly related note I saw an interview a while ago where Michael Stipe said he collects airline tickets. I thought it was cool (but I think the interviewer / most of the audience thought it was nuts!!)

Of the ones i've listened to....

Out of time
Automatic for the People
Monster
New adventures in hi-fi
Up

....I'd say Automatic for the People, one of my all time faves infact.

I've not got around to hearing their earlier stuff.
