Any Rachael Ray Fans Here... Superfly?

Tue Mar 01, 2005 10:02 am

Developed quite a liking for her, her books, and her bubbly personality as of late.

I think FoodNetwork might be doing a little overkill with her on all the celebrity and travel shows though... sorta too-much-of-a-good-thing, ya know?

I enjoy 30 Minute Meals the best, and just got the book. Lotta good stuff in it that novices can do well.

Any other Rachael Ray fans here?

....I'll bet Superfly is one (a cute white chick with chubby-cheeks and a BIG OL' BOOTY?! ....Come onnn!)  Laugh out loud

Only thing I don't like about her (and there is a lot to like), is the giggle. I think she is getting too over exposed. Sara Moulton was the Food Network star but now she is relegated to Siberia. Another year or two, and Rachel might face the same prospect. Less is more.

Never heard of her.
I don't watch TV.

a cute white chick with chubby-cheeks and a BIG OL' BOOTY

I can careless about race. However the chubby-cheeks and BIG OL' BOOTY are essential for any woman regardless of race.

I did a google image search on her and she just looks like another typical made for television twig.
I'd still do her though. Big grin

Her meals are practical and within reach of those of us lacking the coronation of any culinary skill.

Plus, I'd love to have her and my wife in the kitchen cookin' up some heat...

Oh yes indeed! I've got to get my daily fix of her. She came to Atlanta a few months ago to sign her newest book; I'm still kicking myself for not going to the signing. There was a thread not too long ago about the women of Food Network, I tried to search for it but the search function is being a bit too slow tonight.

We discussed this a while back. Did a search for it but it seems to have fallen off of the face of the earth, or I really did start it 2 months ago.

She is easy on the eyes, a good cook, but way too perky for me. I couldn't wake up in the morning to that... unless it was to breakfast in bed. And even then I am not sure how long that would last.

I like to watch her 30-minute meals.

I don't cook (because I have two chefs at home as it is) but if I did, I would be taking a lot of inspiration from her.

She can be totally cheesy, but that's what makes her Rachel Ray!

If I swung that way, I'd say she's cute too, a REAL girl (vs. the stick skinny airheads).
Bonjour Chef!

LOL, I saw this thread right after I'd typed in a chat room:

"MAKE RACHAEL GO AWAY!"

I can't stand the woman ... she's obnoxious, not a chef, and Ainsley Harriott makes better 30-minute meals anyway, if that's what you're looking for (plus he doesn't giggle like a poodle on speed).

OK, I feel better now. Thank you.

Uhhh thats not cooking.. its called training your friends to eat before they come over. I have nothing against taking reasonable shortcuts while cooking, but that MILF takes shortcuts where she doesn't need to which leads to inferior results.

Rachel is great though.. I'd do her, and even though I have pretty broad tastes on food some of her stuff makes me kinda wonder if shes not burning some herb along with her bread.

30 minute meals my ass... unless heavily prepared for ahead of time I doubt much of what she makes would take less than 45 minutes.

I figure the stuff she makes on her show are really 30 minute meals if you have a well equipped kitchen and a fair bit of culinary training. Her knife skills alone, not to mention the knives, are far above the average home cook's. Being able to dice an onion in 20 seconds flat can make up a ton of time.

I like the way Rachael can carry the entire contents of her refrigerator in one arm....I tried that once and it took me half a day to clean up the kitchen floor after I dropped everything.  Smile

Hey..I didn't say I liked "Semi Homemade"..

re: 30 minute meals. I've read a few places where she actually DOES cook the meals in 30 minutes..no retakes, etc.

I am sure she does. However, she doesn't have to do much hunting for the ingredients, the meat is already thawed, her pots and pans are always washed, her phone never rings, etc.

The knife skills are nothing exceptional. I can chop an onion in about 30 seconds too, if you have difficulty with that try sharpening your knife.. You won't believe the number of people out there that work with knives only slightly sharper than their spoons.

I like Rachael for her creativity...unlike Sandra Lee in "Semi-Homemade Cooking". She (or staff) actually creates full recipes. Of course, as CaptOveur said, the assumption is that you can do it in 30 minutes assuming you have ALL the ingredients on-hand already and have all the cookware necessary. And not to mention clean-up time.

I'd kill for her job, though. Her other shows just have her eating constantly!!

My respect for Sandra Lee went from something to nothing when she made a "ice cream cake" with Twix, store bought Ice Cream, and store bought "Caramel Sauce" topped off with store bought "Non-dairy whipped topping". I think I got a cavity from just watching it.

I do like Giada deLaurentis, albeit she's like 15, and Ina Garten. Does anybody else feel like they need to shower after watching her in "Barefoot Contessa"?

I like Rachel's $40/day show when she pops into some bar and has an ice cold beer..might be kinda fun to have one with her, if she'd shut up for 5 seconds.

In fact, I think I'll thought a separate thread about it:

Giada rox. Saturdays/Sundays around these parts usually include the 90-minute block of Giada De Laurentiis, Ina Garten and Michael Chiarello. Paula Deen is growing on me, but only cos of her two hot sons, and she reminds me of a good friend from Bogalusa, LA.  Smile I used to like Mario Batali until I ate dinner at Babbo.

Not that that's a BAD thing, but....hehe....

LOL, you crack me up. Giada has large lips, but I don't think we'll ever find her up on a plaque like Billy the Singing Bass giving us a serenade.  Smile I just got done watching her show, and didn't notice anything too out of the ordinary mouth-wise, tho.

I've a friend who is totally in lust with her ... next time I see him I'll ask him about how he views her mouth. heehee

I must admit though, that I have picked up her trademark garbage bowl as a very useful tool.
