How the heck can they do business there when there are US sanctions in place against Iran?

Subsidiary Company . . . it was on the news couple days ago. The law only prevents US companies from doing business not foreign companies - even foreign subsidiaries . . . it's bullshit, it's a loophole, but it could have been any company . . .

Wonder how long til this is Bush' fault.

Halliburton decided that business with Iran, then conducted through at least five companies, would all be done through a subsidiary incorporated in the Cayman Islands.

Usual shady-businessman tactics! All you need to do is to find a tax haven which asks no questions, and off you go.

I just came back from Iran and I can tell that I saw a lot of American brands, and also met a lot of Americans that were there for business.

When it comes to business everything can happen...and there's a lot of business in Iran!

Halliburton (Cayman) is established on Kish Island (Qeshm Isl.) free trade zone since at least end 2003. Old news !
Also active there are Total-Elf-Fina, AGIP, and almost a dozen others.
