"I Do Not Like What I Do Not Understand"

What's the first things that pops in your head when you hear that from people?

For myself: Mathematics. I always hated maths class because I simply don't understand complicate calculations. Surprisingly I am very good in accounting (even worked in the revenue department of an airline in the past).

A Bush supporter is the first thing that comes to mind.

That the conversation is over.

Really, Logan? You surprise me a bit. Do you not try to explain (if possible) so that they can understand? I suppose it does depend on the way it was said.

You're right about that, Banco. Initially I was looking at this statement as kind of what a narrow-minded person might say, so I might just walk away (or perhaps argue with them  Wink). Now that you put it this way, if I knew anything about the subject, I probably would try to explain to them (over a beer, of course).

Why, Superfly, of course!  Big grin

It sounds to me more like the statement, "i hate dying" which begs to ask, 'have you died often, so much so that it really trips you out?'

I had a conversation with someone and when they said that, I let them have the last word, it pretty much stands on it's own. I felt the level of ignorance was so high, I didn't want to deal with it. To this day, it trips me out that I heard that at all! Big grin

I never hear anyone say that.

I never heard that from someone as well. I guess its someone that's very stubborn. I think that's what you're looking for. I don't really get the question. It a pretty stupid one if you ask me.

You are more likely to hear "I stick with what I know and understand"
When I think of either statement I think of a person of average intelligence who do not like to be extended, and have no interest in the world around them whatsoever.

I have not heard that from anyone, but if I did, I would think it is indicative of a person who lacks curiosity about the world around them. Maybe they are cynical, or burned out, or simply self-absorbed. I hope I never reach the point where I never care to learn about anything new.

""I Do Not Like What I Do Not Understand."

I do not understand that saying, so therefore I do not like it.
