Since El Salvador sucks in soccer, I have no one to root for. BUT! I would have to see the qualifiers and who goes where. Then I'll make my teams to root for.  cool

I'll be watching the Norway vs Italy match tomorrow evening. Should be a good match.  Smile

We actually have a chance of grabbing a point or three, as we have no specific injury trouble in the squad. In addition, Del Piero, Totti, and Nesta will not be playing, and I can't help but feel that benefits us. Hehe. Still gonna be hard to beat them italians.

2-1 to Italy in the first match, so I'm hoping for at least a draw. But a win would be most welcome as well.  Smile

Don't get me wrong but I think that a Norway vs. Italy game is one of the most boring in Europe, two top defensive teams that do not do anything to attack, I see 5 defenders on each side like a wall below the crossbar.

Both teams should sign a 0-0.

Ecuador Vs. Argentina at Quito: That is an exciting game!! My heart is with Ecuador for that game but my mind is with Argentina.

You're thinking of the old team.  Smile Since the new manager arrived they've become more offensive. Last qualifier match they won 3-0 against Slovenia. I doubt the match will end goal less, but if that be the case, we still get a point.  Smile Every little helps.

I saw a summary of the World Cup qualifier match between North Korea and Iran played in Pyongyang. Iran won 2:0. There were some soldiers standing next to the pitch. The crowd looked very metropolitan  bored .

It was a match of the Axes of Evil. I wonder who Bush placed bets for (probably tipped that both teams loose.)

Well, Norway held Italy to a 0-0 draw, so you were right about that part JUANR. However the match was not boring. Certainly not from a norwegian supporter's perspective.  Smile Norway dominated most of the match, though Italy had a few good chances.

Slovenia and Belarus also drew, so no changes in the top of the table.

Italy look destined to win the group now, but if Norway continue to play like today, (and perhaps score a goal or two aswell) then we should have a real good shot at 2nd place, and playoff.

Great game, especially on the last 15mins of the first half.

Iit was Luis Figo 101th game for the portuguese team, and marked it's return to tha national team. Martounius, the indonesian kid that was found 17 days after the tsnunami wearing a portuguese t-shirt, was watching the game along side Rui Costa... was great to see that too.

I am not surprised Norway-Italy ended without any goals, Italy was only going for a draw and the norwegian team is in my opinion missing a real general on the midfield, Italy goes WC2006, Norway goes probably to qualification rounds.

Good to see Holland (who I awlays cheer for, because Canada, well...) moving more and more solidly to the top of group 1. Romania is less and less of a threat, but I guess it will still be a little while before we can stop worrying about Czech Republic... they are ranked higher than Holland, after all, and it's scary to have them in the group. Tough format!

Oh my fellow A.netters, stop day dreaming. Mexico will win rather easily even if the game is in Guatemala.

Now, after two of the three tickets have been taken already (Mexico and the USA), one is still available. Guatemala and Costa Rica should be the teams disputing it.

I am sure you will hear Aydin's appreciation sooner than later.

The nul draw IMO is a honest conclusion to a medium-quality match.
(from a viewer's perspective)
First half saw our neighbours charging blindly, resulting in 20 players mixed up in an area the size of my garden.
Second half was better with a couple of scoring opportunities for each side.

Pretty clean game, Basturk (good as usual) took a second yellow for a hands, thus was sent off, but that was just before the end of the game.

Atmosphere in the stadium was loud but not electric, booed or not it seems the Greek team remains imperturbable. One of these days they should erect a big statue to Otto.

I am not sufficiently versed in Turkish football to know the intricacies of the national team, but I was very disappointed by the tactic they used during the first 45'.

I don't know how to define this group. Surprising? Interesting? Disappointing? Low quality? All the games until now between the 4 leading teams (8 games) ended in a draw. This way everybody has almost the same chances to end in Germany or at home. One win can be enough to end in 1st place. (Of course you have to take 12 points from Cyprus and Faroe Islands, no matter how difficult it is)

Exactly, I think the big disappointment is France. I expected them to be number 1 in the group so that Switzerland, Ireland and Israel would fight for number two.

I quite fancy a trip to Norway - where will the game with Scotland be held? In Oslo?

The next 4 games are sudden death for Israel, Switzerland, France and Ireland.

The only thing that is in favour of Switzerland, is that the France and Israel games are being played on home turf (Berne and Basel). These are the games that Switzerland will HAVE to win or at least draw in. Same goes for the match against Cyprus. Anyhow, it would be completly awsome to see the two "underdogs" Israel and Switzerland go through on to the World Cup.

Quoting Scotty (Reply 44):
where will the game with Scotland be held? In Oslo?

Most likely yes. They only move the less important matches to other stadiums in the country, but I bet the Scotland match will be played at Ullevaal, Oslo, as it is after all a World Cup qualifyer.
