It was a King Air 350 this time, not another Cessna. Again, two F-16 were scrambled to the air from Andrews. Wonder if the FAA is gonna go after this guys license.  Smile

The pilot probably saw a master caution and warning & license dissipation light  Smile.

King Air 350... Hmm I bet the pilot was either a ATP or a MD, grounded (for a while anyhow) either way.

An investigation will be done, that's for sure. I'll wait until more details come out before forming an opinion on the Pilot's actions.

Is it possible that the White House arranged for a plane to fly through sparking a terror scare thus distracting the american people?
( Im kidding)

The only thing to be truly scared of is general aviation............

I assume you forget that during Clinton's administration, a plane was flown into the White House lawn? In this day and age, you must recognize that such a repeat is something to be avoided at all cost. Or, you could just throw some partisan  redflag  on a story and call it "fear mongoring"

I'm not trying to speak for Rsmith, but I don't think he necessarily meant that they made the plane fly into the airspace. It is the overblown reaction to attract (divert??) attention that is suspicious. I'm sure planes have violated that airspace many times even after the plane landing on the white house lawn, but it never used to provoke such a reaction.

I assure you he was deadly serious.

You said the same thing essentially a few posts later, no one jumped on you. Know why? Cause we know you're kidding - even if not - you usually post with some thought . . .our friend Smitty here - he's just gone off the edge. . .

That simple.

Actually he's B757300 opposite number. Despite my differences with MD90, he's not a blind Bush supporter and I'd classify him as more of a libertarian. Like B757300, Smitty is a kneejerk political hack who spits dogma without any real thought behind it.

I think NORAD has to work on separating threats from non-threats. A Cessna 152 and a King Air are not threats to national security a JUMBO JET is.

One day some idiot is going to push the big red button on a Cessna and burn down an entire DC block for nothing. Then we'll have the classic tax dollar wasting investigations and inquiries only to find out the obvious 5 years later that the government has no business pointing missile arrays at general aviation aircraft.

Mark my words... THIS WILL happen the way things are going.

And by no means should this message be taken that I am a pansy towards terrorists. I say the government should kill Bin Laden and anyone associated with him without hesitation, trial or remorse. But I believe that our airways are as safe as they are going to get and therefore these false alarms are trying my patience. If only our military had such itchy trigger fingers against Afghan and Iraqi insurrectionists rather than on our own citizens we would have sent those bastards to Hell and had our boys and girls home months ago.

Face up to the truth.........three years ago anytime the chips for Bush were down we all the sudden had the terror level raised to ORANGE.....then after awhile we americans just stopped paying attention especially after it was found out that ASScroft wasnt following the guidelines to warrant raising the level........we havent had it raised nationwide for now going on two years.

I am saying that Bush will not stop at anything to draw attention back to him and keep him in front of the public as this STRONG leader....he is anything but that......last night speech was a disgrace to the office in which he holds....people are finally coming around to the fact he has painted himself into a corner of ineffectivness...his approvals will continue to drop as long as he occupies the house on 1600.

Because he is a President who is riding entirely on his " strong leader, fearless in the face of huge terrifying aggression from, er, nobody we can tell you about" image, who uses the fear generated by 9/11 to beat the American people with every chance he gets, because as an actual politician and achiever, his record sucks. Bumping up the "War on Tourism" Alert level generates fear, which is exactly what he wants.

Um, no.

Consider these things:

1) You have NO IDEA how much the "be responsible for where you fly" mantra is beat into every pilot's head. Busting the Washington ADIZ is the HEIGHT of STUPIDITY for ANYONE. If I busted it, you better believe I'd expect the SAME treatment.

2) A King Air 350 is generally a well-equipped airplane and I'd find it hard to believe if it didn't have any sort of GPS or visual display of airspace, making it even MORE STUPID to bust the airspace. If they were diverting and getting close to the ADIZ, they should've had the common sense to make a 180, cut their losses, land, and wait out the weather. Lack of positional and situational awareness as well as "get-there-itis" at the very least, blatant stupidity at the worst. People that bust the Washington ADIZ for WHATEVER reason have no business flying airplanes, at least until they straighten up and fly with their minds 100% inside the aircraft.

3) You can't honestly say a Cessna 150 is NO danger to ANYTHING. I'm sorry, but you CAN'T. How do you KNOW there is not something malicious in an airplane? How can you make SURE? How can you make absolutely sure that an F-16 sent to intercept a violator doesn't ingest 58 birds on its takeoff run? Why NOT evacuate important office buildings? It caused minimal inconvenience. Sure, it's PROBABLY not. But if something WERE to happen, everyone would be screaming about our fallacy of a national security office.

Some people just like to whine, I guess...
