"Daily Show" New Set...AAAGGHH!

Fri Jul 15, 2005 12:12 pm

Man, the old Daily Show set was freakin' perfect, but the new one...its like a visual abomination...anyone else miss the old one?

I thought the same thing! This one seems as though Stewart is floating in the middle of some giant monitor world, and it just seems cheesier. Bring back the old set!  banghead

That was my first reaction too. I really liked the blue curved desk and the couch. Now the interviews seem too professional.

Bring back the old one!

Yeah, it really sucks...I wonder if we can send Comedy Central e-mails telling them to bring the old one back? Although I did like how he compared it to the deck of the Enterprise. Big grin

Couldn't they have just moved the old set over from the old studio to the new one?

To be fair though, I do like their new graphics.

I noticed in last night's episode they had tweaked it. The middle monitor showed a cityscape rather than the scrolling DAILY SHOW titles which were still on the side displays. Maybe it's just the angles used, but I found the background less distracting this time as well.

I'm pretty sure the monitors are there to parody the constantly moving computer graphics backgrounds the mainstream news shows are using in place of the generic cityscape (more common for local news I suppose) and newsroom backgrounds.

Did anyone else think the entire video quality of the show looked worse? I turned it on and I thought it was an old episode from 2001 or something (I just started regularly watching it this year)...

I also don't like the cut-outs, the old music was better, the talking is distracting IMO.

I don't know, I have mixed feelings.

One thing, for sure, the monitors are a parody/joke.

Last night's episode seemed better than Wednesday, anyone agree? It was awesome how Jon was just destroying any argument his guest had...

You're talking about when Bernard Goldberg was on, right? I thought it was fun to watch them debate... Jon Stewart provided the laughs, but his arguments still held water...
Scotty doesn't know...

Amen. Stewart is a great interviewer, but sometimes he pushes it a little far. Props to Goldberg for having the stones to walk into the lions den, and speak his peace.

Ever since the ratings took off, that show has been too much pop-culture
