A Question For The Kiwis...

Please allow me to appeal to your knowledge.

This is the second time I ask this question, I hope I will get an answer.

Would any one of you Kiwis know the words the leader of the Haka says before "kama te kama te, etc."?

Do they change the motions as well?

Are you talking about the All Black Haka? As far as I know, a few different teams use different words before Kamate. I know the All black one enough I guess, and I could post it up. But the spelling wuld be wrong in some of the words.

Yeah, I am talking about the All Blacks. Sorry, I should have been more specific.

I notice the "dance" (please forgive this very inappropriate term, but for want of a better word...) has evolved over the last few years, as well. I prefer the Zinzan Brooke-led Haka by far  weightlifter , more intimidating, less TV-friendly, IMHO.

So, yes, if you have the words, that would be great.

IMO Wayne Shelford led the most intimidating Haka's. I am trying to find a video link. He was also the greatest AB Captain.

I think there is a line missing between the end of the leader's, er, solo (please forgive this indecent term) and "kama te". Sorry to be so demanding, it is just for the sake of my better understanding.

lol this is only the one that sounds like it.. but it stays the same throughout the All Black team: Kao rite Kao rite kamao "HI!" Ringa pakea wai-wai takeiha hakeo te o ki "O HAKEO TE O KI!".... haha sorry if i offended anyone but that's what it sounds like.. Maori 101: I sounds like an e like sheep and E sounds like ae or the first part of heir.

The "Kamate kamate" version is only one of them, this one was made by one chief. If you lived here like 160 years ago (circa. 1840) and you were one of the british soldiers, you most likely wouldn't hear that. There are many versions as it is a general war dance. Just compare them to the NZ Maori team's haka, made especially for this team.

I think so. Or the leader must have some Maori blood in him. I think thats how it works

Only if they have one. If they don't they revert to the captain.. Tana led one this year because they left Rico Gear out of the 22... I believe it was the 1st test with the Lions.
