Well, I'm off to Logan in about 20 minutes. My first flight in an A319. Woopty freakin' do. Good call on the binoculars, PHLBOS. I just packed mine.

It's about 10 AM EDT now. How far are you from Logan again? Your flight has a 1 PM departure time; you don't need to be at BOS' Terminal B until 11:30-12 noon. Is the security line during that time that slow? My recent BOS experiences have only been at Terminal D for FL BOS-PHL flights so I do realize that a B & D comparison may be an apples & oranges affair.

Quoting Logan22L (Reply 50):
My first flight in an A319.

My A319 experience was only on the F9 flights I took last year during my trip to PDX. No real complaints, seats were comfortable.

My only US Airbii experience was on their A321 nearly 3 years ago. No real complaints and the seats were decent in terms of padding and comfort.

NW's A319/320 seats lack any type of padding; the same holds true for their refurbished DC-9 seats.

I somehow knew that someone would ask that question sooner or later.  Smile

While room can be made in the cooler, in all likelihood, we're going to be in public areas during the spotting activities; I would not recommend bringing any alcohol then.
Save that for the evening festivities.  wink

Not to be a party pooper, but the absolute last thing we need is to give any passing police officer a REAL reason to bust the gathering and make any arrests. Those of us who have been victim to police spotter busts can tell you that first hand. Wagz & Phlphotog had some prior run-ins w/police during some of their spotting trips at PHL including 2 A.net gatherings.

WOW!  Wow!
Things are really relaxed out here on the West-coast!
I remember at an SFO gathering at a nearby park, we were all hanging out watching planes land. We had beer and wine totally visable and police drove by and didn't say anything.
We also had a a barbeque grill, bags of chips and lawn chairs so that made us look 'innocent'.

Maybe one of the NY locals can fill us in on the state's/city's drinking alcohol in a public place laws & policies.

Edited to add:

If the NY locals want to bring lawn chairs & a grille for a barbecue, that could be doable.

Let's keep away from public consumption of alcohol in a city where we don't know the laws, and where there may be minors present.

That's too much potential heat to deal with, we'll be able to do plenty of that when we go to dinner and afterwards.

with intent to drink or consume, an open container containing an
alcoholic beverage in any public place except at a block party, feast or
similar function for which a permit has been obtained.

I may try to get out there on Saturday as well. Not sure of my schedule, but if I'm free in the afternoon, I'll try the usual spotting locations and look for the big, unruly mob  Smile

I'll be coming in on said airTrain...my train gets into Jamaica station at 10:34 AM, and I'll be taking that down from there...

I will need transportation from JFK to the city, as my car is, unfortunately, at my residence in Florida.

What's dinner attire? Should we plan on looking more like John Q. Public or Donald "You're Fired" Trump?

Me and my dad will both have scanners. Already got a whole list of JFK frequencies and an airport diagram along with maps of the local area from mapquest printed and ready.

Winds look like they'll be out of the SSE the majority of the afternoon, so I'm assuming arrivals should be on 13L or the 4s.

Spoke with Ian last night and will probably see you directly in the city.

OH, Bigphilnyc didnt mention it, but Highheels and I are going to Cafe De Ville later in the evening, for more drinks and relaxation.

Those not going to the Jazz band are invited.

Looking forward to hear about the band though. I'd never heard of them (I'm relatively young and learning) but looking forward to hear more about them Ian!
