Your Latest EBay Deal?

Sat Sep 24, 2005 8:06 pm

I need a stress vent now, so let's talk about how happy/pissed our latest deals on eBay made us.

Yesterday, I got two brand spanking new DC H10-60's for...drum roll please...$402 and free express shipping and an extra pair of gel ear seals. I am quite pleased with that.

How about y'all?

Thanks,
BAB

p.s.If you don't know what DC H10-60's are, think aviation...duh  Wink

I have always been curious about Power Sellers on Ebay. If you do not mind answering - Where do you get the merchandise you sell on ebay from?

I collect antique parking meters and got a restored Martin Red Ball parking meter for $600 USD. The Red Ball was manufactured by the J. W. Menhall Drilling Company in the 1940s and had a unique timer and housing. Very few survive today and you're lucky to see maybe one good one offered for sale in a year. Instead of having a mechanical Violation flag, it had a red ball housed in a metal and plastic dome on the top of the meter housing which was visable in all directions for 500-600 feet. When you put your pennies or nickels in, the ball would drop out of view and the timer would indicate the amount of legal time remaining. With five minutes of time remaining, the ball would slowly start to rise. Most of the time when you see a meter like this for sale, it's in rough shape and either missing parts or not working. Also, the seller gave me the two keys needed to access the timer and coin box. It works just as well as my new digital Mackay and Duncan meters.

There's some weird stuff you guys buy on there.

I actually had started buying on eBay years ago, although for undisclosed reasons got banned. Now I joined again less than a month ago and these are my following transactions:

Buy

- Black Faceplate for Nokia 6610
- Nokia Car Quick Charger
- The Complete West Wing Seasons 3+4

Sell

- Siemens CF62T T-Mobile Phone
- Creative Zen Touch 20GB mp3 Player (Currently Selling At US$122.50)

I buy mainly militaria collectibles on EBay....small, but hard to find stuff such as patches, badges, silk aviator scarves, coins, and scale model aircraft. This week, I purchased a rare F-117 patch and a anime soundtrack CD. I've never sold anything, yet. However, I am looking into selling part of my NASCAR diecast collection.

If anyone on here sells militaria collectibles, feel free to email me or contact me through EBay (user ID: f117nighthawk117).

Looks like I might hold the record for the largest eBay purchase thus far. A classic 1967 Firebird, black on black in excellent condition for $10,200.

For the most part, I have been very lucky with purchases on eBay. A pet peeve of mine, though, is the jacked up shipping charges. I've found some sellers charging up to ten times the actual amount it costs to ship an item. It'd be nice if eBay could somehow govern this obvious rip off. The alternative, of course, is to simply not purchase the item.

A couple of months ago, I sold my F828 so that I could buy my 20D. Got a decent price for it, but a new camera was just announced, so I am glad I sold it when I did.

My latest is a minty Lexus ES with 65k miles.
I don't like it much (grew up with BMWs and currently also have a Miata M2, so I guess I'm more into the performance/handling oriented machines). I'm hoping it grows on me.

It's not really my type of car but serves it's design purpose well and makes a good commuter car. I was initally looking for a Toyota or Honda to use as a reliable commuter but got this Lexus for only $10k (about the same price as it's sister Toyota Camry).
