Glasgow Pub Crawl-January 2006

Ok, for those of you who are attending the pub crawl in January 2006 located in Glasgow (P.S. ZRH meet attendees - You suck Big grin

)
Well my train arrives into Glasgow Central at about 1040, at which point I shall disembark and pop into each of the 3 pubs in the Station whilst waiting for others to arrive in Glasgow.

First place of call, The Gorbals to find GLAGAZ Silly

Then onwards to Govan

Before heading back to the City Centre where UTA_Flyinghigh will be put on a train to Oban or Aberdeen (To be decided on the day Wink

)
Drinking will recommence at Walkabout and visit the usual haunts such as Yates, Wetherspoons and other good drinking venues.
By 2pm, myt332 will be drunk and will be put on a train to Greenock where he will proceed to go for a swim in the River Clyde (or take a car ferry to Dunoon - it's up to him).
At which point, the remaining contestants shall go to Ibrox stadium where GKirk will fall to the floor and praise the Holy Ground Wink

At the end of the day, everyone shall make their way home/to their hotel and the piss up finished.
Current plans are for me to get the 8pm train home.
Arriving back in Annan

just after 10pm.

No chance in hell of me being able to make it, I'll be enjoying the sun in Miami, San Juan and St. Maarten! Then returning back to blighty to move house!

I shall ( ... ) also be in the pub with Kirkie, awaiting the arrival of UTA and UTAette. No doubt Alex shall ( ... ) arrive at some point also.

I however, shall ( ... ) arrive via high-performance sports car, lest I get bored with train travel and go home before I even arrive. Though I may still take the train depending on whether drinking is planned for Sunday afternoon, as I can then partake in the celebration without fear (Alex .... ) of having to stay (relatively) sober.

In a related point has anyone booked their hotel yet?

I am planning hotel acoomodation as I wish to be present for the whole weekend's festivities (I plan on arriving straight from work on Friday night and continuing through till Sunday ... ) and it is a less than brilliant idea for me to try and drive any of my current cars unless I am in the fittest of states to drive .... Smile

Well, at present there is a choice of three 'beasts' to choose from.

In the silver corner we have the TVR Cerbera 4.5 V8. Currently produces 460 BHP and 403 lb/ft of torque, with 60 in 3.5 secs, 100 mph in 7.6 secs, 150 mph in 16.2 secs and keeps on pulling all the way to an indicated 200 mph. Very tasty, but shortly to be sold as the insurance is due for renewal and I;m not going to insure both this and the Lotus. Smile

In the black/green (whichever side of the fence you're on) corner, rests my beloved Lotus Carlton, recently acquired from the racing school I work for. She is powered by a 3.6 litre twin-turbo, currently chucking out 416 BHP and a HUGE 467 lb/ft of torque. 60 mph comes up in about 5 secs and it recently did the 1/4 mile in 12.4 secs. Certainly one I'll be holding on to! Silly

Lastly in the very definetely black corner we have my old workhorse and daily runaround, the Calibra Turbo 4X4. She's got a tiny 2 litre 4 cylinder single turbo engine, but still manages to produce a healthy 315 BHP which is efficiently sent to the wheels via a tasty 4x4 system. 60 comes up in around 6 secs and she'll go off the clock (165+) without breaking a sweat.

As for driving any of them? Well, to quote a good friend of mine: You can sit in them, look in the boot and under the bonnet. If you catch me in the right mood, and ask nicely, I may even take you out for a spin. But if you want to drive it, the answer is NO (unless I get drunk and leave the keys laying around that is). Silly

What about some flexibility. By postponing your tour of utterly shabby watering holes in even more shabby surroundings to two weeks later you might find some folks who might like that kind of "venue" !

Hmmmmmmmmm. Glasgow, with it's rich heritage and sensuous watering holes, or Zurich, with it's Swiss rules, watered down gnats piss passing as beer and women with big tits.

I think Zurich gets my vote - not that I can afford to come ! Big grin

Besides, it's easier and cheaper to get from the Isle of Man to Zurich than to get to Glasgow!

Either way, wherever you are, enjoy, get shedded, laid and have fun!

Well Scotland is a very nice place to be honest, albeit Govan is a dump!

We hadn't even heard of the plane spotting meet in ZRH when we stumbled on the 21st January 06 as a date. I don't really know why there's a thread on this GLA thing to be quite honest.

Anyway, everyone enjoy what they want to do and leave out the shit.
