Yup - one year the wife and I organized a N Y Eve shindig, and outa the 20 invited (and who had confirmed) - TWO turned up  Sad We were sure it wasn't "us". Still, we discovered that everyone had had one of those "bad weeks", and all seemed to think that they might not be missed.

Since that time we have held plenty of fun getogethers to make up for it  Smile

Cheers

I'll be lucky if I can even make it to midnight........
(No it's not because I'm an old  old ; had to do 5 days worth of work in 4 [got to do it again next week, but it won't be so bad since that route week is more compact, so less driving].)

Sounds fun and dangerous.......  bomb

I remember a July 4th Party five years back where we all got drunk as we shot off fireworks. The amazing thing was that nobody was hit with anything. Considing my group of friends at that time, I was amazed a few of them didn't start shooting roman candles at each other......

Nope.. first time that I've been home for NYE in two years. Not going anywhere, not doing anything. No travel involved. No hellish 17 hours in an airport/plane.

Just going to relax and take it easy for a change. Nowhere to be, no hassles of having to be somewhere.

Same here. It is pretty sad when my parents of age 70 have more parties to go to than we do... - Everybody is just so tired from so much work, well, have a good New Year's Eve anyway! Can you just go outside your door and celebrate with the neighbor's??

I'm in with the kids whilst the missus works at her mums pub. Not bothered about going out anyway, New Year's overrated, having to buy tickets to get in the pub - what's all that about! At least I will be spotting at MAN tomorrow with a clear head!

First time Mr. Diva and I have been without a gig in probably six or seven years. We might hike up one of the fire roads (for those of you flatlanders, a fire road refers to a wide path they cut in the mountains up here to use as a break in the case of a wilderness fire) with a picnic basket and watch the skyrockets over the L.A. basin. I'm thinking summer sausage, cheddar, and a good merlot.

I'm also open to recommendations, though...

I gonna have just left LA. CRAP! I love LA. I haven't missed a New Years here since I moved here. I will be waiting for a friend to fly in from Utah at 22:30. Might just stay in Hopkins till my mate arrives. Aside from that, I will be with my old Mother at home.

I love the weather here.

Geez, that's so weird, it's only 12.33 p.m. here in TLS. Thinking about the fact that people are gonna change year right about soon...

Well for me it's gonna be the first new year's eve without a big party/celebration.

I have the AOG mobile phone like last week, so must stay close to work (less than 30 min.) and can't drink.

All me mates have gone off skiing and renting "chalets" in the Pyrennees, so "all by myself....." indifferent

Those damned aircraft don't care about week-ends/new years or vacations, damn you you beautiful machines!!!!

Actually I'm gonna hook up with another colleagues who's on standby as well, might celebrate the new year in the office tonight....

I'm off to London in a couple of hours to go to Walkabout. I've been building up for the last 4 or 5 nights by gradually getting more and more pissed. I can't afford it and my stomach feels like a washing machine but it'll still be good (fingers crossed). Just no more illegal brothels this time  crazy

Me too - I blew a mate out this week after promising her for 2 months i'd be there.....

reason 1 - the pub was asking £25 per head to enter!
reason 2 - not felt up for it due to being stressed from work lately

feel a bit gutted really but shit happens

In my group of friends New Year's has become a pretty overrated holiday, mostly because by the time it comes around everyone is exhausted from the stress of Christmas (shopping, preparations etc) AND it seems that work projects always have to be finished by by year-end and so the week leading up to it is a major push.

This year I'm looking forward to the celebration because my boyfriend has a big night planned for us--symphony, etc.-- but if it had not been for his taking the initative we probably would have stayed in.

I'm working 1800-0600 so I'll probably be celebrating by myself in my lonely office at LHR  Sad

Hopefully there won't be any flight delays so I can pop home for an hour or so, but if there are any flight delays then thats out the window, but at least other people will still be there with me then !!.

This will be my last post of 2005. See you next year.

Have a good one all.
