My most favourite City is either Hongkong and the whole of Scotland and also Schiphol airport  biggrin

Hongkong is one of the best place I have been to. Public transport is just great. Loads of stuff to see. Hongkong looks bigger than it is on the map.

I really can't choose my favourite city or town in Scotland because everything in Scotland looks so nice.

I also like AMS Schiphol airport if it could be called a city. I havn't seen an airport which has so many shops inside. It has a shopping centre feel.

Dublin which is the current place I live is crap. We have the crappest roads in Europe. People don't have any knowledge how to drive in our roads and the traffic is absolutly mental.

OK...this is tough....my hometown of ATL which I love would not make the list.

Well, I grew up in ATL but have lived in ORF/PHF for the past 15 years, so I am going to throw ATL in the mix ... it might have been my hometown for 25 years, but it has not now for 15 ...

ATL is a beautiful, incredible city.

but such totally different cities . Edinburgh is visually attractive while Glasgow has the atmosphere ... and the shopping ( it was actually rated a couple of years ago as having the best shopping of any European city with a population of less than 2 million )

okay

When I was in Scotland, I just landed in Glasgow, and we drove out of the city pretty fast, so I cant say I have seen all of Glasgow, but I love Edinburgh.. spent a whole day there.. I was on a roundtrip in scotland, and we had to hurry a bit because we were only there for a week.

oh, I forgot to put Kahului on my list! I love all of Maui, but since this thread is about cities, I have to write Kahului. There was a really nice little town on the island aswell, I forgot the name, but its down by the water and you can see all the cruise ships visiting Maui from there..

The only thing Salida has going for it is the proximity to Monarch and the gas station to fill up so you can get to Durango from COS........

Unless you know a girl there or something...

Well, I did, but that's another story.

FibArk in June is fun. River rafting, fun little downtown area, good food. Firt St. Cafe is pretty darn decent. And Bongo Billy's has really good sandwiches, sits right on the river, two blocks from Safeway. We actually have a place north of there in the middle of the National Forest. There is so much to do around Salida: Mt. Princeton Hot Springs, hiking, photography, climbing the 14ers, ghost towns like Turrett, and some of the most beautiful land out there. But then again, I also really like small towns  Smile

From a Chicagoan's perspective...

1) Selci en Sabina, Italy (what Tuscany and Umbria looked like 30 yrs ago, pre-Americans)
2) Rome (the food, the energy)
tie) Buenos Aires (the food again...the people...the atmosphere)
3) Hirosaki, Japan (more small, ancient temples to shake a stick at, all within walking distance)
tie) Hachinohe, Japan (Do you like fresh squid?)
5) Vancouver (on a sunny day...)
6) Quebec City (just splendid, esp. during Carnavale d'Hiver)
7) Toronto (still stuffed after the most recent eat-fest)
8) Mackinac Island, MI when the Mack race puts in (on or about July 15) on the CHI-MACK leg. (The world's largest freshwater race becomes the world's largest/craziest/wackiest keg party-BBQ).
tie) Thermopolis, WY. (Have you ever been to a waterslide theme park where the h2o source is a hot spring?)
10) Montasolo, Italy (If you have not figured it out, I am very into food. YOU MUST GO TO THIS LITTLE RESTAURANT named Qu'ello que ch'e ch'e. Best meal I have EVER EATEN, period. This is how a family restaurant should be run.)
11) Girona, Spain. (Wanna run into Lance? Or have him run into you?)

Not a Seattle fan? I've only spent 2 nights there in total so I probably don't know the place all that well but my wife & I got round Pike Place market, some great specialist shops towards the South end of downtown, and the EMP museum. Loved what I saw!

Cairo, Egypt. It has great diversity (old Cairo; new/modern/European Cairo; 'Islamic' Cairo); unbeatably good Islamic architecture and good neo-partisan architecture; great vibrancy; fantastic everyday hustle-and-bustle; and so forth. It's a brilliant city to explore - which is one reason why I used to live there.

Not to be anal but Manhattan is not a city. It's a bourogh. One of the five bourogh's that make up the city of New York.
You should know this. We both got drunk together there.

Put it this way - if you told someone you went to NYC and they asked what you did, would your response be:

"I hung out on a street corner in the Bronx, ate a knish in Brooklyn, did laundry in Queens, and got gasoline on Staten Island?"

No, you went to Manhattan. I am fully aware of the borough concept. I just I'd cut to the chase.
