Drinkers

Fri Feb 03, 2006 7:59 am

Hi gang

OK - This is for those who like their drink (alcoholic) - How often do you drink ? Do you consider that you drink too much ?

Me - well I drink everyday/night and I sometimes think that I am too reliant on booze to even contemplate cutting it down knowing it is bad that I go well over the alloted points I should adhere to.

I enjoy a drink at night, helps me to relax, somehow I don't think my liver agrees !! - be interesting to see how many of you guys do the same !! (shame on us!!)

I go through phases of drinking. Sometimes I can go for weeks without having a drink, yet sometimes I can drink like a fish. A few weeks ago, I was drinking a bottle of wine every night. Now, can't even remember when I last had a drink.

Almost every day.

On some days way too much.

I have to say that I am only drinking beer, it is pretty rare that you see me drinking hard stuff.

Fraternity rush since the beginning of semester (Jan 16), so drinking about every night. And when I say drinking, I mean drinking, everything from beer to grain.  crazy

As a student, I used to drink a lot of alcohol either every night or every other night. I have (rather hazy) memories of brilliant nights' out with my mates - always great fun. I felt sorry for my then-girlfriends, as I turned in at 1-2am drunk as a stunk. Oh well. I also very rarely suffered from a hangover.

Nowadays, I don't drink much, perhaps a pint or two every week or two. It'll increase when I return to Wales as my mates are still there, but I don't wish to go stupid again.

I usually drink beer Wednesday through Sunday. From one to four per day. More on special occasions, like Friday.

Having lived in the Middle East for many years I don't really drink anymore. I have the odd drink with friends during the weekend and then one or two glasses of wine on a Sunday with lunch. That's all.

When you live in a dry country you really appreciate the value of a glass of red wine with a pizza. The two are inseparable.  yummy

well lets see:

when i am in DEN, i would say i have a drink at home (one drink) about every other day. generally i will go out at least once on the weekend and then i'll have about 5 or 6 drinks. so in total that makes what? 10/week?

when i am in NYC, i go out with friends nearly every night but monday. it starts off with dinner where i'll have 2-3drinks...then we go out and there's another 6-7drinks (i'm out for more hours) so in a week i will go through what? like 45 drinks?

yeah its a lot, but i dont have a problem because i never feel i HAVE to drink. i just like my drinks and i have gone for extended periods of time without drinks because i simply dont "feel like it." moreover, i have only blacked out less than five times in 8 years of drinking.

I have on average 1 beer a week. If my dad is having one, I'll have one with him. My friends are not drinkers. Maybe the odd little party with them every 3-4 month's we'll all chip on a 12 pack and split it between 3-4 guys. Not often though. Too be truthful, out of all the guys who are drinking something I am usually the most sober of them. Last time 2 of them got totally wrecked and me and the other least drunk guy had to be on puke patrol and monitor them to make sure they didn't do anything stupid. Good times though, good times!

I never crave alcohol myself, and never have that feeling that I won't have fun unless I drink. Well, except for those times I'm a DD and I'm sober and everyone else is drunk. Thankfully that doesn't happen at all at college.

I consider myself a fairly light drinker. If there is a good party, I will get drunk, but that usually only happens every second weekend or so. I'm not one for casual drinking, so other than those good nights, there isn't too much else.

When I'm not up north at work I drink alcohol every day . . . Scotch whisky usually, beer also. Occasional Bloody Mary. Wine at dinner most of the time.

When I'm up north at work, on or off duty, no booze at all, period, ever.

I drink every week but sometimes i will have a beer or two everyday, sometimes just a Tequila before bed time, I might go a week without a drop.

I don't drink too much, I wish I had the time and money to drink more as I love watching the sun go down over a cold one.

I used to be able to drink more than the average bear, a six pack in a night, a couple times a week was no biggie, or a bottle of vino. Anymore I get sick with just one glass of wine or a mixed drink. It sucks, because I love good wine and champagne.

I really enjoy my drinks. I drink almost every single day, a glass of wine on weekdays always cheers me up. On thursdays I get together with my friends for our "Juebebes", on Fridays I always get really drink, same on saturdays. On sundays I'll drink a couple of beers.

Cheers!

At least 1 drink with both lunch and dinner daily.
2+ nights a week of heavy boozing with my hockey team in winter.
2+ nights a week of heavy boozing with my rugby team in summer.
Saturday with my girlfriend, her friends and my friends.

Mind you I'm a consultant so I can wake up late pretty much any day I feel like.

I drink way too much. Bottle of wine usually or maybe a couple of large whisky's. I need to cut down - both my wife and my liver tell me so.

I generally drink 1 or 2 drinks 2-3 times a week (sometimes less, rarely more). I enjoy a drink in the evening, but make sure it's not more than 2-3 times a week (if that). I typically throw up after 3-4 drinks (if the drinks are not spaced out)- so that makes sure I don't drink too much at one sitting  Smile

As to what I drink - I don't care too much for beer, so it's normally either a Bacardi & Diet Pepsi, or a scotch whisky with ice.

The way I see it is, if I have a drink or two everyday or so then I'll get a natural tolerance to it. This means when I go out with friends I'll be less likely to be falling over, getting in fights or throwing up. In fact, I've never thrown up from drinking!

However I was thinking just after Christmas that maybe I had become a bit too reliant on alcohol so I cut it out for a few days and I was fine, albeit the nights went a bit slower! Same goes for cigs too, although I can go days without having one now.

I figure I'm doing alright.
