No way! I want to see it from the ground. I don't think seeing it land from the air would be that cool. After all, the thing is 277 tonnes and it would be so cool to see it touch down @ the same level.

If it was the weekend before, I would, as its the London Air Show at Earls Court, but.... my bday is the 27th April (Also the date the first A380 flew), so I might try and have that weekend off.

I would love to join you but bearing in mind (a) it is a Bank Holiday weekend when everyone wants to get out if the weather is fine (and what better excuse than to go and see the A380 at LHR) and (b) BAA's contempt for spectators, I think I shall stay away from the area that weekend.

Does anyone know when the A380 is coming to the airbus factory at Filton airfield in Brstol? The groundcrew there claimed it was going to be last September but so far no more news.

It's going to be there for the Families Day. The date is somewhere in another thread. June 11th comes to mind, but can't be 100% sure.
But it's probably going to be a flying display, as it's going to be at Broughton the same day.

That will be decided nearer the time once more details are known such as expected ETA and prevailing wind etc, possibly even as late as the night before. Although we could arrange a meeting point in advance then make our way to the arrival runway together.

Cheers Kaz,

Not really much to help with - keeping it simple - arrange a meet point, meet up watch the planes, then go into Windsor and have some beers after. If anyone wants to go for a meal, then they will have to arrange that amongst themselves.

I'm sure most people will meet up with some others first who they keep intouch with off A.net, then come along to the main meeting area when it's decided, but that will all depend on runway in use on the day which we should know the night before !!!.

I was considering the Travel Inn, but UTA is heading for the Rhaadison, which might be an idea, a room overlooking the runway sounds like a good move, especially if its raining Big grin

Although its 80 a night instead of 50... mmm

Im up for going to windsor for some beer, are there any nightclubs there too? Food will definately be required though....

Yea cos' you aren't stealing my spare clothes this time lad. Actually, that was the only time that shirt was worn as I hate the thing. Didn't you like it though haha?

I can't eat chinese food anymore as I may literally die but I can go along after getting something to eat with the vegetarians. After all, there will be beer there.

I just remembered something:

It happens to be a few days after my 31st birthday (25 April)! This would be my best birthday present this year--to see the long-awaited A380 for my first time ever!

No need to book any flights! I live here in London already--as a 2nd year student at King's College London. Thanks anyway!

Dave, 1768 weeks can not be classed as 'a few'.

Can I join you chaps?

Been meaning to fly into LHR to do some serious spotting anyway, now I've a good excuse.

At what time is the A380 expected to arrive?
It's a 10 + hr flight so I'd like to do some planning ahead of time.
