My Dad Just Died...

Sat May 06, 2006 3:57 am

Hey Guys.

My mom phoned me a few moments ago to tell me that they found my dad dead, he died yesterday of a heart attack (He smoked a lot), he was just 67 years old.

Now I am not as sad as I should be because I didn't grew up with him, I was always with my mom. But still makes me a little sad, he was a good man and he lived his life the way he wanted it and did what he wanted.

The last time I saw him was back in 1999 when I went to Venezuela for the last time, in a way I feel OK since those are the memories I will have of him, happy and alive.

My half brother on the other hand is devastated since he always lived with my dad, I will try and call him on the weekend to speak to him.

Well that's it guys, I just needed to let it out, This is life and this things are inevitable, we are not eternal and we will all eventually get there one day or another.

Rest In Peace Giuliano 1939-2006

First of all, you have my condolences MIAspotter, know that. Now I don't mean this unkindly, and maybe it's because, as you say, didn't grow up with him, but is spending time on A.net the place to be at this time?

I don't know..... maybe I feel this way since I'm experiencing something a little tough myself (not a loss but a potential one with some astericks).

Again, I'm sorry if that came out harsh, but it was just a thought. My thoughts are with you and your family.

There was a thirty year span when I didn't see my Father, and now he lives in my house . . . there's no real relationship there, but I'm sure there will be a sense of loss when his time comes. I empathise with your feelings.

Well the thing is my father lived in Venezuela, My mom lives in Miami and I am in England, so really there is nothing I can do, I wish I could hop on a plane and go to Caracas right now but I can't afford it at the moment.

But don't worry, I understand your point and I didn't took it the harsh way.

Again thanks guys for the replies, like ABfemme said even though we are all strangers here, we can come together and care for each other.

I know how you feel. I never knew my father beyond meeting with him briefly in 1989. He died in 1994 and I didn't find out until last year. It's funny, you never think about them, but when they go theres still a hole, however large or small.

My sincerest condolences and good luck with calling your brother. Not a task many would consider enjoyable.

My deepest sympathies for you. My father passed away on Jan 12 2005. He was ok, until Dec 23, 2004 when he vomited blood on me. He had one of those fulminating cancers you show no symptoms until you die. In this case it was stomach cancer and he was 62.

It's a very sad thing, but life goes on, just go with your feeling and never feel embarrased to seek the comfort of anyone or to shed your tears if you need to.
