9934 miles or 15988 km's from Roskilde to Melbourne. I think I can up that to 16.000 km's, since RKE is a couple of km's south of Roskilde itself + we went to Phillip Island which is a couple of km's south of Melbourne

I've got to say that your versions of "east" and "west" are completely relative, and (dare I say it) slightly anglo- or america-centric.

Home: Sydney

North: Reykjavik, Iceland 16636 km
South: Macquarie Island, Australia 2557 km
East (relative to date line): Nuku'alofa, Tonga 3590 km
West (relative to date line): Apia, Western Samoa 4326 km

If we go by the longitudinal meridian of zero degrees  Wink .....

East: Greenwich, UK
West: Greenwich, UK

From home? At the limits of my travels I was at home. Been around nine thousand miles in each direction, though.

The two most distant points I've been to are Ha Tiên Vietnam and Lima Peru which is:

19742 kilometers
12267 statute miles
10660 nautical miles or

177° 40' of arc. Put another way, 80 nautical miles from being antipodal.

i'm pertty sure that perth to bermuda is the furthest anybody can travel, Perth is the most isolated capital city on the planet...Perth to New York on GCM is close on 20000km so it's almost unbeatable, except if i go to Bermuda.

Barcelona (BCN), Spain is 19,653km (11,947mi) from Auckland (AKL), New Zealand. Went there last August. I don't think it is possible to go 20,000km from anywhere on the planet to anywhere else so thats about as far as you can go!  Smile I've actually made an upside down map of sorts... not completely accurate but shows where New Zealand and Australia would be if they were moved to the other side of the world.

note that New Zealand has about the same climate as the UK however... that North Atlantic current sure keeps things warmer in those higher latitudes! Whereas Spain/Italy are much closer geographically in terms of distance from equator but have higher summer temperatures... Barcelona was 36deg C when I was there... Auckland is lucky to reach 30deg C
