Top 10 Gay Cars ;-)

Wed May 10, 2006 7:24 pm

Ok with a couple of threads relating to the gayness or otherwise of the Mini or the Smartcar, I thought it was time to discuss what are the most gay cars around.

Below are pretty much the gayest 10 cars around from what I know - certainly the most camp gay cars, as plenty of gay men don't have any need to drive something which shouts out they are gay quite so loudly.

Of course plenty of straight guys drive these cars too - either they are very comfortable with their sexuality, it belongs to their wives or girlfriends, or they just don't realise - or are a little bit to Metrosexual for their own good  Wink Certainly anyone straight who protests just a little bit too loudly at this list may not be as comfortable as they might have thought  duck

So here is the rundown in no particular order. I should add that I'm looking at this from a more European perspective, so it may be different in some of your countries. No.10 on the list however was officially voted the Gayest car of all time by an international pink panel however.

1. Smartcar - of course. The ultimate gay city car. Remember the essential accessories of a small dog and a whicker basket of shopping.

2. Mini (the new one). Of course its a gay favourite - still a cool great to driive car though.

3. Jeep Wrangler - blame Queer as Folk for this one Big grin

http://www.everpol.home.pl/tuning/rury/chrysler/Cobra%20Jeep%20Wrangler%201b.jpg

4. Audi TT - especially the convertible.

5. Toyota Rav4 - Gay men love cars that look a bit butch

6. Mercedes SLK - definitely one for the more successful gay man.

7. Porsche 911 Convertible - see SLK above

http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/rp/images/04c4s_3.jpg

8. BMW 3 series convertible - see SLK above

9. Mazda MX5 - long a pink favourite

And the officially gayest car on sale - as voted by a panel of pink experts is:

The Peugeot 206 CC

Can anyone come up with anything I've missed - except for that hideous pink Nissan Micra convertible as featured on Top Gear on Sunday - no fashion concious gay man would be seen dead in one  Silly

I would consider the convertible Bug a tad more gayer than the hardtop.

I would add the GTI to this list for the macho gay crowd.

I don't see why the Porsche 911 is on that list. I think that larger 4x4s such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee or Range Rover tend to be more popular with rich gay men than sleek sports cars. Just my observation.

Around Toronto, there were tons of Ford F-250 (heavy duty) pickup trucks with rainbow stickers on them. Usually dykes driving them though   The rich gay chinese boys usually had Audi A4s (bought with daddy's money, of course).

True enough - successful macho gays also love BMWs, Audis and Mercedes in particular.

The moment I saw a picture of the EOS I thought gay:

http://www.babez.de/vw/eos/pic01.jpg

I don't mean to generalize, but this is my feeling: any front wheel cabrio car is either a girl car or a gay car. Looking for open air, neverminding the flabiness, nor the performance, nor the rawness.

The Megane belongs to that group, and actually leads it.

The SLK, Porsche and 3-series I don't agree with.

The Volkswagen Jetta (Bora in Latin America) and the Jeep Liberty were voted one of top sellers with the gay crowd a couple of years back.

I also fail to see how the 911. I think the Boxster is the ultimate gay (or bored housewife) convertible. IMO the 911 is the least gay of all the cars in the Porsche family.

The Boxster doesn't even have dual exhaust. How in the world is it ever taken seriously as a sports car? It is the successor to the old 924 which was a cheap Amercanized Porsche for the unwashed masses that couldn't afford the 911 but wanted something to compensate for their small penises.

The 911 is not considered a gay car out here. Like the SL ,it's more of a midlife crisis car that aging boomers buy.

I am surprised that no one has brought up the Shaguar - certainly a pretty car...

No no no - you still don't get it. Porsche 911 - an all-time great sports car. Convertible conversions of hardtop cars are weaker structurally than their coupe/saloon sisters and therefore are inferior to drive than them (I'm not talking about those hardcore roadsters designed to be first and foremosts opentop cars here). The 911 convertible is a compromised 911. Designed for you to be seen in. If it was the drive and performance that was inportant to you when buying it you'd get the coupe everytime.

Therefore gay men love the convertible version  Smile

I guess we're differentiating/confusing what cars LOOK gay as opposed to what cars gay people prefer? Anyway, some of the pics posted look cute, but gay? (although I admit, Flyingbabydoc's pics -Rep22 - do really look gay).

Years back the designers in the Chevy studio used to say "Z28s are for men, Trans Ams are for wussies". Interestingly, the Burt Reynolds movies kind of elevated the Trans Ams to a macho (although often a teeny-bopper macho)status, and the IROC racecars I crew on are anything but wussy. And interestingly, the majority of Camaro production was V6 models sold to women. Go figure. I just think people believe what they want to believe in reference to other's vehicle choices. I think it's reserved for your stereotypical flamer. I seriously cannot understand what Nissan were thinking when they put that color in the catalog. Maybe they wanted to go after the San Francisco market  Smile.

BTW, it wouldn't be the first time for that company. Remember the Datsun (Nissan) Fairy, from the late 70's? They did not sell too many of those in the redneck states...

You obviously know zip about the drag queen market, dearie. A large Cadillac convertible is the car of choice. They have good taste too, and wouldn't be near anything that could be mistaken for a sheep's behind in looks or name.
