nothing, and I mean nothing, can beat pizza cooked in a firewood oven.

In fact that´s the best way to make pizza...with a cold diet coke, cold beer or a red wine... it´s the best of the best...my favorite food.

Probably Rincon de La Boca in MDZ, on a summer night sitting in the sidewalk tables with a melting cheese and jam tomato pizza, a cold Andes beer and the desert coolness, watching the girls walk by to the clubs.

And obviously many places in BUE.

Of course, everyone knows a local place that can beat the chains. In North Dallas, Mama's Pizza and Angelo Vito's are fan favorites.

Only places I eat pizza anymore are Campisi's (very good thin crust pizza) and my personal favorite, Scalini's in Lakewood. Best pizza in Texas hands down, in my opinion, and maybe the best I've ever had. I thoroughly dislike Pizza Hut, Domino's, Little Caesars, and Papa John's.

In St. Louis I like Il Vicino over in Clayton. The original was in Salida, Colorado, where I vacation every year. Unfortunately, the Salida one was purchased by someone else and the food has turned to crap.

DiGiorno and Freschetta's 4-cheese pizza aren't bad. I had a CPK frozen pizza once and it tasted good once you got over the fact that the crust was really stretchy and it felt like a dog chew toy.

Rome's Pizza in SA makes a killer pizza. FWIW they're part of the U.S. Pizza Team. I usually get the Mediterranean Greek Pizza (mozzarella, gyro strips, feta cheese, pepperoncini, tomatoes, red onions and oregano) or the Peppered Steak (Thinly sliced ribeye, peppered with course black pepper over a bed of mozzarella and red onions.) When I was in Eugene, OR last year, I went to this place called Track Town Pizza that was pretty damn good.
As for chains, I usually go to Little Caesar's as it's cheap ($5 pepperoni pizzas everyday and for $2 a few times a year, that's when I buy about 5 of them and eat pizza for a few days) and tastes great the next day when you nuke it in the microwave a few seconds just to get it warm.

Why?? I have never eaten meat in my life. And there are millions of people who haven't eaten meat. Fortunately, for us in India, vegetarian food doesn't mean just salads, raw vegetables and tofu .Indian food is advanced enough that you can have great tasting vegetarian meals  Wink

I think JCS17 is going to hire him when he gets that High Powered Airline Executive job right out of college.

Anyway, the best pizza is thin, foldable or crispy, and so greasy that the pepperony forms little concave oil reservoirs on top of the pie.

Tony and Ann's was the best I have ever tried. I never knew anyone who could not eat it with out a fork LOL...

I had a couple 'experts' in my family who could actually do it! My Dad and two of his sisters could do it.

He had lots of experience though. He grew up very literally two blocks away (from the Rt 3A location.... they were on Princeton St when they initially opened I think)

As far as frozen is concerned, DiGiorno wins it hands down, provided you get the kind that bakes in the oven and not their microwavable version.

For pizza chains, I guess I'm alone in preferring Pizza Nova.

The best by far is a place in Seattle called Pagliacci. Check it out.

An outstanding pizza in a place you wouldn't expect it is Moose's Tooth in Anchorage. Still Gino's East in Chicago is a definate favorite. And for chain pizza, Papa John's is good, but since we lack one of those in Fairbanks, I do like the Great Alaska Pizza Company, although I am pissed they jacked up the price from $7.77 to $8.88.

Frozen - nothing beats Totinos Party Pizzas. Usually less than a dollar, and they taste great. College freezers stuffed full of those things.

Restaurant/Fancy/Local - Brick Oven here in Austin is excellent, but the best I've ever had was probably Chicago-style at some restaurant in, you guessed it, Chicago.

Nationwide - Probably Little Caesars or Dominos.

What would you say is your favorite Mexican food restaurant around Austin?

I haven't been to many, but I love Chuy's.

I kinda like El Patio on the drag. Very fast service and a simple consistent fare.

Believe me, after this experience it will be hard to eat any other pizza around the world!

Hands down, period, and end of story for me is "Eduardo's Natural Pizza Restaurant," I dreamt about it for a year after I moved from Chicago.

Sorry I'm late getting here, but I gotta give a shout out.

The absolute best pizza I've ever had is from Cefalu's. It's on the corner of Date and India in SAN Little Italy district. I ate it two meals a day for four days straight.

My favorite place is Papa Murphy's take-n-bake pizza. It beats pretty much anything. Not greasy at all, its perfect! We only have 1 in AZ, a crapload in WA State.
