For some inexplainable reason today has been one of those days that was just annoying. Maybe it was because thanks to the traffic it took so long to get to work, and no one offered me a seat on the bus (I currently have a broken leg).

So I was thinking, what burns your arse? What grinds your gears? What gets your goat? What pisses, in your opinion, in the face of humanity?

Big Brother
No, not the concept of constant contol, observation and influence by government. The infernal TV show. Have you ever, I mean EVER, seen such a bunch of preening chancers in one place at one time? They take whining and fake comradism to a high art.

Before any of you get smart, yes I have played it, and as I suspected, watching it on the telly equates to playing it. Just plain dull.

Heavy Metal Music
I'd prefer to listen to white noise. At least then some kind of discernable melody may be found.

Junk Email
No matter how many filters I try, I still get the crap coming through, meaning that I have to bother to delete around 20 emails a day offering me Leah's porn video, HMV summer bargains etc etc.

I live in the worst part of town, with an exceptionally high number of apparently under-educated immigrant families from the Middle East. The kids have all the space they want for playing outside; hell it's a playground totally separated from the road and equipped with various playground items.

But no, some from the flat next to mine have to play "football" right in front of my window. That doesn't just include kicking the ball, which is noisy enough if you're trying to study, but also arguing with each other, insulting each other and each other's mother/family/whatever. Then when the kids do make it downstairs to the playground, they're sure to start yelling someone's name - after up to, say, twenty yells the conversation from ground level to storey no. 5 will begin. You do guess right, that one includes shouting, yelling and arguing as well. Every time.

However, if some of them decide they might just try the overly long journey to the door of that neighbouring flat, things don't get better. Of course you could ring the bell and wait for someone to open - but that would be far too easy. On the one hand, the people in the flat are pretty unlikely to open the door after the first ring of the doorbell. I don't even want to know why. On the other hand, banging your fist/knuckles/flat hand/feet on the door and yelling is far more effective than just ringing, isn't it?

Then there is one fine woman who, in the last two weeks, decided to start telling the kids who's boss. So every now and then, I'll hear this noble lady yelling at the kids at the top of her lungs, sounding just like she's about to run amok. The only German words I hear translate to "bitch", "whore", "cunt" and so on; we're talking children aged anything from two to thirteen years. This reticent exchange of words obviously proves highly educational as evidenced by the children's choice of words.

Well, I need to get out of here for a while again... heading home soon. And then I'll be moving. Thanks for this thread, it was good to type this out.

Edit: I forgot to add what irks me the most about them, although it's more subliminal: I almost never hear them laugh. All they do is yell, argue and whine.

I think that generally, seeing as I live in central London, my neighbourhood is quite quiet, especially seeing as it's so near to all of the main line railways out of the city and a couple of A-roads.

However, there is this one kid who I despise. For a start, he has somehow attached some kind of lawnmower engine to a skateboard.

He insists on riding up and down my street with this incredibly noisy contraption until nearly 11 pm. Also, whenever he goes past it interferes with my TV/Radio reception at crucial moments. Finally, he must be about 15, and he is the fattest git on the block, with a permanent mouldy leather jacket on, even now, in high summer.

Arrgghhh!

6) People who can't swim. Yes, you know about that almost eighty percent of the earth's surface... did you ever think you might want to go there? Or perchance END UP THERE?
7) People who are afraid to fly. I shouldn't discriminate against people with a disorder (aviophobia), but I also should be working and not tooling around on A.net.

The current weather here is annoying as hell! We have 30°C and an incredible humidity, no matter what you are doing, you sweat directly. I shower two or three times a day and I change my t-shirt two or three times a day.

Even more disgusting are the people who don't shower and who don't change their shirts frequently. Today I had to wait in a queue in the post office and next to me stood some dude who had the last shower probably a week or so ago.

A lot of things can aggravate me, but one thing that's been getting my goat lately is the amount of a.netters who seem to feel that LCCs attract only one type of customer. What gets me more is that these same said people probably never flew on an LCC, and feel that their legacies can do no wrong. However, why does it always seem that the irate passengers who make headlines are always flying on...drum roll...a legacy?

I read a book ("Plane Insanity" by Elliott Hestor - GREAT read!) that had newspaper clippings from different incidents that happened onboard certain flights, and slap me silly if *all* of them didn't happen on the likes of AA, or UA, or BA, etc... not that LCCs don't have their share of unruly customers (the recent EWR incident on B6 is only one shred of evidence); but sometimes it just frustrates me when I see people (on here, no less - the land of "enthusiasts") saying things like "I'll never fly FL or B6 or WN because they only carry the trashiest people", and they base most of their opinion purely on what they paid for the ticket!!! Grrrrr!

Sorry, but "trashy" people don't always base their travel decisions on price, and nor do they break noses because they weren't offered a free this-or-that. And the so-called "classy" business travelers (you know, like the investment banker who took a dump all over the cabin of an AA plane from South America) don't always fly exclusively on legacies.
