Geez, tough to narrow it down. Two and A Half Men and Rescue Me (although I know it's a "drama") come to mind right off the bat.

Some good ones already mentioned. I do like Two and a Half Men but I wouldn't say it's as funny as Father Ted or Blackadder.

My contribution would be Green Wing but I don't know if it's been exported. It's on at odd times here so it's not all that well known.

Before I try it, how embarrassing would it be to suggest the Gilmore Girls?

Father Ted and Blackadder

My favourite 'current' comedies are Green Wing and The IT Crowd.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart is absolutely hilarious! Also, although they're dramas, House and the West Wing are very funny.

#1: "Seinfeld"

#2: "The Larry Sanders Show"
Sadly, only season 1 is available. I taped all the episodes when they were on Bravo, but they have the naughty words cut out.

#3: "The Newsroom" (first season)
Very few people have heard of this show, but it's non-stop hysterically funny.

#4: "3rd Rock from the Sun"

#5: "Fraser"

I heard rumors that "Arrested" would be back on Showtime or another network. Has anyone heard anything?

It's just an incredibly brilliant show. I can't believe it was cancelled. I mean, c'mon "According to Jim" is still on and "Arrested Development" is cancelled?

Very sad.

I heard it had more to do with some illness among the cast. Something about a throat problem with Jason Bateman???

Hopefully it will return. There are enough rumours about it coming back.

The Australian series "We can be heroes - finding the Australian of the year" (also called "the Nominees") was brilliant especially Ja'mie King, Pat Mullins and the Sims twins (I bought the series on DVD a few months back - there is so much you miss if you watch it once its amazing). The actor that plays all the main characters (Chris Lilley) won the Rose d'Or Festival prize for best male comedy performance in 2006.
There are some clips from the show at: http://www.abc.net.au/tv/heroes/videos.htm

Dunt Railway Station (Daniel Sims)

Pat and Terry Mullins preparing for roll to Uluru (Ayer's Rock)

Also Kath and Kim was also great, are they going to film a new series?

I loved Arrested Development too bad that it was cancelled. My other favourites were Seinfeld and Father Ted.

My favorite from NZ was "Eating Media Lunch".

Oh yes! It doesn't make prime time over here and it's been a while since I last saw it but it is excellent. There was one sketch where his side-kick apeared dressed as stuntman carrying a bucket. He placed the bucket at the bottom of a ladder, looking up and carefully aligning it then climbed the ladder till he was out of sight in the rafters and a drum-roll began. Well... I wasn't expecting what happened next.  rotfl

For me it'd be
Chappelle's Show - Why did that MoFo have to p!ss off to South Africa (turning down a $50 million contract, for god's sake).
Saturday Night Live - The originals were the best, however the modern-day crew has their occasional high points as well (JetBlue sketch, that's all that needs to be said).
MadTV - Primarily the first season, after the 4th or so it died on me.
South Park - Still pretty good, but it appears the jump over the shark is getting closer.
The Jimmy Kimmel Show - If only just for "Unnecessary Censorship".

"The Simpsons" have quite a few good laughs. I've always enjoyed that show.

But my all time favourite comedy would have to be Ricky Gervais's and Steve Merchant's "The Office." I own both seasons and the Christmas specials of the show. The jokes never wear old. I think what makes "The Office" so funny is that it is based on events that we all experience every day.

The American version of the show is fairly funny too but not as good as the orignal.
