Update On My Daughter, Savanna

As many of you know my only daughter, Savanna (who just turned 2 on July 28), was diagnosed with PPB (PleuroPulmonary Blastoma - a very rare form of childrens lung cancer) in February. She is under going chemo treatments and on Friday, August 4th, underwent surgery to remove a small "mass" that was behind her heart and breastbone and also to resect 1/3 of the top lobe and 1/3 of the middle lobe of her right lung.

I am so happy to report that not only was the surgery a total success, but also there was NO sign of cancer in her tumor that was removed. She is in REMISSION!! She will have to continue with the last four treatments of her scheduled chemotherapy but hopefully the cancer will not return. The doctors can't give her the "All Cured" sign until 5 years have passed after first diagnosis but we are so optimsitic of her recovery!

Wow Jason, really great news!!!!

A beautiful daughter you have!! I read her story, it really touched me. Savanna sounds like an amazing kid! To hear that she is getting better is such a blessing. I hope she continues to get better, so she can grow old, smile for the world and get all her dreams.

I know its not much and I wish I could do more but I made a donation to CaringBridge in Savanna's name. If there's anything else I can do let me know.

Great news.Congrats.I know how you feel.My kid has had a Miracle recovery from Diamond Blackfan Anemia & I know how it must be for the kid & the Family.

Great news to hear as well. Makes me happy to hear about a child who is on the way to recovery, I have been through a medical condition where I was supposed to have died, but keep going stay strong and she will come through!!!

Jason, thank you so much for the update on Savanna! That is the best news, I have been praying for her since I first found out that she was ill, I remember those long days and nights that your wife and you spent in hospital. Please give Savanna a big hug for me and you are all in my prayers.
