YUL Meet

Tue Aug 29, 2006 1:15 pm

After debating with fellow members in the chatroom, i have decided to suggest a YUL meet. Anyone interested?
Montreal is a great city, great night life, easy going and laid back. Good traffic at YUL, 3 daily AF's 2 BA's swiss, lufthansa numerous AC's.. the whole works.
If anyone is interested, suggest dates, maybe we can set it up nicely. Anyway, hope to hear from you guys.

Other than the spotting, yeah, YUL is a great town! You'll have to suggest a time for this in order to get any sort of real feedback. I'll consider it, depending on certain factors.

I'd be in. Though I think it's best to have the meet before the devastating Eastern Canadian winter sets in  Wink

I agree.. which means if it is to be this year, probably before mid december.. Untill then, the weather is acceptable. As for a specific date, im cool with pretty much anytime. I live here.. so im here all the time! (except for 2 weeks starting 3rd week dec till first few days jan). Other than that.. im cool with anything. I say end oct/beginning nov is a good time.. but then again it depends on peoples schedules.

Ive never been there.. i usually go under the flight path.. parc marcel laurent. Go to do 2 things.. play soccer and spot! haha.. but ya i heard about avenue 55 and its surrounding area..

Anyway, i hope we get good responses to make this happen.. i dont know if there has been a YUL meet before.. but it doesnt matter. It sure will be a fun one!

Ahlan marco.. yes i study at concordia. life is good in montreal!

As for the dates, im really flexible.. the only date i cant do is the weekend of the 7th of oct.. my aunts engagement. (yaaaay another party to drink at).
October 13-15 is fine.. late october fine too.. novemberish fine too.. but i think late october is better. i suggest everyone say when their best time is.. that way we can narrow it down.

If I may...

A YUL meeting is a great idea, but I thought it would be more interesting if it takes place when the first AF 380 lands here. It was supposed to be somewhere in april of 2007 at first, but now with the 380's delivery delays, I don't know when that will be.

That moment definitely needs a meet. But in the meantime.. i think its safe to say we can have one soon, as the first AF A380 flight to YUL is a long time away!

Good ideas guys.

But traffic at YUL takes a dramatic dip after October 15 (Corsair/Egyptair/Lufthansa take their seasonal hiatus).

I really suggest that this be done by the end of September.

And i just remembered, AF reduces to 2x daily. So ya, if people are inclined to meet in october, we can do it 13-15.. that way its a good time for everyone (i hope), and we will catch the last weekend of heavy traffic at yul..
what do you guys think?

That is the only time I could make it to YUL. Normally I work weekends, but I have this one off because of a training class.

Besides spotting planes, what else is there to do in YUL? I've never been there.

Damm, I am tempted to come to Montreal since all my friends back home in.. Cowtown says to go there for the best nightlife.
I want to see what it is like to party till 4am on slow days and party all night until 9 or 10am on busy Friday/Saturday nights.

I also want to visit La Ronde and do some shopping. If I cannot go, I hope that next year I could be able to travel to more places East of my town.

Cowtown as good as it is from the oil bucks, but its nightlife is not as good and is many times better off just staying at home.  Sad
Not how I want to waste my youthful horndog years.
Follow @kimbo_snaps on Instagram or bokimon- on Flickr to see more pics of me and my travels.

A dramatic seasonal dip. Oh yes. From the dizzying heights of spotting traffic that only 8M passengers a year could generate. Hehe. Could not resist.  Smile

Maybe I'll come. Fly YYZ-YOW and then drive so as not to add to the YUL pax count.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Don't forget the nights are getting longer and many European flights arrive or leave in the late evening so it's better to be here earlier than later if you want good light for photography.. as well as some warmth.
