What Do You Think Of Sonic?
So I started college not too long ago. Being 110 statute miles from my house, I am being exposed to new restaurant chains, not found in my hometown (such as Tim Horton's). I am seeing a commercial for a drive-in fast-food restaurant named Sonic. The food on the commercial looked fairly good (or at least the smoothies/slushies did), and I checked out the website, and found the nearest one to be 76 statute miles from where I live. Anybody have any experiences with this chain, and should I make the trip?

Yeah, I know Sonic, they've been around here since I can remember. It's OK, but IMO not worth a 76 mile journey. Standard fast food, kind of on the greasy side. My favorite thing is the Footlong Coney Dog, but you can make a chili dog at home. Their tenderloin is too greasy to eat IMO, same with their onion rings.

It's okay, but I wouldn't drive 76 miles for one.
I WOULD drive 76 miles for an In-N-Out burger, though. (sigh) If only I had that option. Unfortunately, the nearest In-N-Out is in either Nevada or Arizona (sigh again.) At least I got my fix earlier this month in Vegas!

I'm going to echo the above comments and say that while Sonic is good, it isn't worth the trip just for their food. I doubt any chain restaurant is that good.

I'm with everyone else on this. They're good, and were an almost adequate substitute for In-n-Out when I spent several months in ABQ last year. I'll stop if I'm near one and in the mood, but I wouldn't go 76 miles just for it. They do have some pretty interesting drinks, so if you do go, don't get just get a plain soda. At minimum, have a flavor added to it.
Sonic advertisements are national; I've seen them when in Hawaii, and there are no Sonics there.

Much like any other fast food restaurant - not worth the effort. It's not bad, but I'd be hard pressed to drive five miles to one - forget 76.

I miss Sonic. They used to have some around here, but the owner died and the wife didn't know what to do and everything closed up. The Cherry-Limades were awesome.

As has been said, Sonic is good but 75 miles to go to one is a bit extreme.

Sonic is great! I try to visit it whenever I visit Vegas. They don't have any where I live here in California.
I love Sonic because of the drive-up style of service, which is a classic part of Americana. They still have girls that come up to your car to give you your order.
In fact, I love Sonic for that more than for the food, which is okay, in my opinion.

Kidding right. This may be strange but i have never been to White Castle, and it is like 3 blocks from my parents house in NY. I thought it was only that good in the movie, guess I gotta check it out.. Movie was rather funny though.

The tiny sandwiches at White Castle are keen. I've only eaten there a couple of times, but they were tasty. You can finish one off in two bites.

I wouldn't drive 76 miles for any fast food, but when its local, Sonic is my #1 choice. Unfortunately there are none locally.

Seriously, I wish we had more places like Sonic around here. Wisconsin is absolutely devoid of decent food places, even near large cities. There aren't any:

However, not all hope is lost for Wisconsin. It's the home of Culver's, which is pretty good.
There's a specific Whataburger that I like near my sister's home in Austin, Texas. It's on Hwy 620 in Lakeway. My order is always the same: A Triple Meat & Triple Cheese Animal Style, Fries Well Done, and a ChocoVanilla Swirl Shake. Whenever I tell her I'm going there, she shudders and wishes me good luck.

Both of us have considered the drive to Sonic, however, there is a Waffle House across the street from my university. Its alright, but I prefer IHOPs better

I would go nuts if there was a Sonic Burgers up here in the D.C. Metro
area, we don't even have a Cracker Barrel. The closest one is about
50 minutes away (without significant traffic).
I grew up in San Diego and I miss In-N-Out, but I like Sonics better.
There's so much more to choose from than with In-N-Out. In fact,
I like Jack-in-the-Box better than In-N-Out. I know calling them tacos
is a stretch, but Jack's are very addictive. I usually go straight from
Lindbergh Field to the Jack's on the PCH when I land in S.D.

I can't believe you made that comparison.
Anyway, Sonic isn't particularly good, though I stopped eating red meat years ago, so I am limited to their grilled chicken. Their "limeade" is a rather ghetto concoction of adding limes to diet sprite.

I love Sonic; it's probably my favorite fast food joint...BUT I wish more of them had drive throughs...I find it annoying having to drive up and order...

I like Sonic, used to eat there a lot when I was a student at Central Missouri State University, in Warrensburg, MO. I always liked their tater tots. They are the only fast food place I know of with tater tots. Burger King kind of has them on the breakfast menu.
