Your Favorite Song

Wed Dec 27, 2006 8:41 am

I happen to love 'Edelweiss' from the Sound of Music, as it is enchatingly beautiful.

I also love several Muse songs, I really really hated them at first, now I love them.

Along with the great classics, Welcome to the Jungle, Nimrod, Nessun Dorma!, Fanfare for the Common Man, Our Town, The Planets (all of them), Free Bird.....

Whats your favourite songs?

Cheers,
Kyle

Redneck National Anthem, by Vernon Oxford is one of my all time favorites. Classic 70s... My other favorite is Redneck Mothers, the Bobby Bare version. Jerry Jeff Walker made it famous, but I dig the Bare version.

"He sure likes to drink that Falstaff beer and chase it down with that Wild Turkey liqour. he drives a 57 GMC pickup.... truck; with a gun rack and goat roper needs love to bumper sticker" "He's thirty-four and drinkin' in a honky tonk; just kickin' hippies asses and raisin' hell"

I also like, The Lord knows I Drinkin' by Hank Thompson. Most Hank Thompson songs are great.

I just love that old Country. It is way better than today's wimpy country. New country is all about love and such. I want my county singers to be drunk, stoned, and rowdy. Like all my favorites. But most of them are dead now.

"Starless" from King Crimson's "Red" LP, 1974.

Methinks you all were supposed to name your favorite. There's no such thing as "multiple favorites." Be decisive.  Wink

Mine would be:

"I dreamed a dream" from Les Miserables; Ruthie Henshall's rendition of this is fabulous

"Nella fantasia" - sung by Katherine Jenkins (lyrical version of "Gabriel's Oboe")

"Habanera" from Carmen (and equivalent, from Carmen Jones)

"My Heart Will Go On": Titanic (can't remember singer's name!)

"Ode to Joy" (Beethoven's Ninth)

"Unexpected song" (Tell me on a Sunday?)

There are a few more, but I can't remember them right now!

A tough one...and if we are talking songs in the strictest sense of the word (I think the term is so overused these days) then that rules out most of my favourite EDM material.

Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb

Breaking Benjamin - Diary of Jane

I've heard an interesting (and IMO quite good) remix of this by Sean Tyas...hadn't heard the original before now and the lyrics seems to have been repitched in the remix.

I suspect those who like the original won't like the Sean Tyas version  Smile
