Best Movie You've Seen?

Mon Jan 08, 2007 1:05 pm

Heres my list:

1: Patriot (R)
2: War of the Worlds (pg-13)
3: Borne Identity (R)

I'm sure I'd re-order that if I thought about it some more... but what about you guys? Best ones you've seen?

I'm not asking for the list based on acting, plot, or anything else... just based on how you liked it.

-Dances With Wolves - Great story, great soundtrack. Possibly the best movie of the past 20 years. And that's saying something with some of the Oscar winners of the past 20 years. I can see it easily beating that garbage "American Beauty" and "Titanic" and then other Academy winners like "The English Patient", "Forrest Gump", "The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King" and "Million Dollar Baby". It would face stiffer competition, though from "Schindler's List" (although, I haven't seen that, and would like to do so) and, from some people, "The Silence Of The Lambs". I bet it could even beat "Gladiator" and "Braveheart" (two of my favorites, but that all gets more into preferences). There's a few other more recent ones I'd like to see, like "Unforgiven", "A Beautiful Mind" and "Crash".

Hmmm.....
My list is rather lengthy: (In no particular order):
We Were Soldiers
U-571
K-19: The Widowmaker
Spaceballs
Hot Shots
We Are Marshall
Flags of Our Fathers
Hot Shots Part Deux
Airplane
Saving Private Ryan
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
Happy Gilmore
Billy Madison
Tears of the Sun
The Patriot
The Last Castle
Dodgeball
Anchorman
Apollo 13
Team America: World Police

Shrek
The Alamo
The Longest Yard
Caddyshack
Back to School
Miracle
Coach Carter
A Few Good Men
Rudy
Remember the Titans
Days of Thunder
Crimson Tide
Toy Story

Basically any movie on that list I would stop what I'm doing to sit down and watch. (Probably left some off too.    )

It would, for my all time favourite, be Pulp Fiction.

I hardly ever go to the cinema, in fact I watch about 80% of my movies on longhaul flights and nothing has recently caught my attention that much.

Saving Private Ryan is probably the top of my list. Followed by others like Top Gun, Hannibal, Silence of the Lambs, Collateral, the "Alien" series, Black Hawk Down, We Were Soldiers. There are way more.

While not a movie, I loved Band of Brothers, and thought it was excellent... Along with From the Earth to the Moon

As for actual movies,
1. Strategic Air Command (for the flying scenes alone)
2. the Right Stuff
3. Goldfinger
