Another Child Star Bites The Dust: Lohan In Rehab.

Lindsay Lohan checks into rehab
LOS ANGELES -
Lindsay Lohan has checked into rehab.

"I have made a proactive decision to take care of my personal health. I appreciate your well wishes and ask that you please respect my privacy at this time," said the 20-year-old actress in a statement issued Wednesday through her publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnick.

Us Weekly reports that Lohan entered the posh Wonderland Center in Los Angeles at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, arriving in a sports utility vehicle and clutching a Jamba Juice.

Didn't I see this girl on the Disney Channel, like, three years ago? As usual, child stardom turns out so well. It never ends badly. I'm sure her parents were very protective of her and were willing to stand up to her while her checks were rolling in.

Maybe Britney, Paris, Nicole and the Olsen twins can all stop by for a visit and to compare notes.

At least she's trying to correct her problem. What's the big deal? I'm sure she'll be in plenty of more movies so I am not sure that she has "bit the dust".

Snorted it perhaps, but certainly not bitten it.

I honestly don't know what the hubbub is about. 50 years ago the studios themselves provided the drugs to the stars to keep them going. Now they have to scrounge for them themselves, and make a deal of going into rehab occasionally to put on a pretty face. In another 50 years the story will be the same, but the delivery system might be different once again.

No, this is not an endorsement for drug abuse. It's merely saying "I'm not surprised."

Its been happening since the 30s when Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz got too rich and famous, too young. Its unfortunate, but it happens.

Cheers,

Judy Garland's financial affairs were always in disarray, and becoming too rich and famous too young had nothing to do with her drug abuse, meaning it wasn't her choice to begin with. Initially, it was the grinding schedule the studio had for her, with movie after movie back-to-back to capitalize on the contract they held on her. The studio doctor supplied all her drugs.

Today, stars aren't held to quite such control as in the days of the studio system, and act more in the style of Bela Lugosi who would openly shoot up heroin on the set, while no one said a word. There's always a down on his luck doctor who literally sleeps in his office at Hollywood and Vine, willing to write a script in exchange for some cash under the table, if you can't find it from any other source.

One thing that really bugs me as to alcohol, is how licensed clubs allow underaged persons (under 21's) to drink on their premises, so long as a big celeb like Lohan. To me the Alcoholic Beverage licencing authorities in places like NY City and Los Angeles ought to investigate for underaged drinking in such clubs and suspend or cancel their licenses if violations are found. Those who are underaged and drink should also face personal penalties, just like anybody else who does.

I used to drink under age (until I turned 21). My friends had a fake id and we would get bombed on the weekends all through out high school. I actually told my parents I drank during that time and my dad would take me to bars once in a while after I turned 15... I turned out to be a god hating, child molesting, car jacking asshole. Watch out for me!

According to Lohan herself, "I don't drink when I go to clubs. I drink with my friends at home ..." If any establishment in California was serving her drinks, they certainly would face the suspension of their license.

It has also been rumored that her recent appendix operation was really a stay for an overdose.

Could be. It was fairly well known she was combining oxycontin with cocaine and booze. That's gonna be a really hard habit to break. You don't just go to AA for a few weeks, and voila, you're cured.

In California, a minor is not allowed to enter an "on-sale" establishment, unless it's part of an establishment which serves food.

So the answer is, "it depends".

http://www.abc.ca.gov/questions/enforcement_faq1.html#Q.%2079.

Edit: A friend down in L.A. just clarified some things for me. Some establishments are geared more towards the service of food earlier in the evening, then are more of a bar/club later. His local TGIF starts carding at 10pm, even though they serve food up until closing, because it's not considered mainly an eating establishment by that time.

Lohan In Rehab

Perhaps the first time she has admitted it but I'm sure she has spent time resting for "exhaustion" before.

And rehab is for quitters. What a maroon!

A clip on the news tonight says that Lohan entered rehab two days after being found passed out on the floor of a hotel on the night of the Golden Globes when she was once again spurned by James Franco.

So that's it. She's got shitty boobs, thinks guys who spurn her are gay, pops too many pills and drinks too much.

A little more on the story from earlier this month:

If you can't see the joke in that statement then think a little bit more about it.

People who party too much often exercise poor judgment, which leads them, in turn, to party too much. It's an old Hollywood story, sadly.

Great thread, by the way.  Smile
