Giving Anything Up For Lent?

Wed Feb 21, 2007 12:24 pm

I'm not Catholic, but it's a good enough reason to make a commitment.

Giving anything up for 40 days?

I think Garri767 gave up Anet for Lent.  Sad

I gave up chasing women for Lent. But that's when I was about 5. I didn't understand you could go back to your old ways after Easter.

I'm going to give up on the idea of giving something up for Lent, that works for me every year, and every year, I give it up successfully.

I'm not giving anything up for lent, I don't really have anything that I could feasibly give up, especially not things like beer, chocolate and other tasty things! Life's too short to bother as far as I'm concerned, I'll think about going without when I've passed on, unless they have beer in heaven Big grin

I wasn't planning on it. I could say A.net, but that would be torture. I could give up soda, might be good for me.

I'm going to try to refrain from using curse words for Lent. It's amazing how much your language deteriorates when you are around a bunch of other college students who don't care about profanities nearly as much as your parents did.

That is a good idea to give up for Lent. One should try to do things to improve themselves or help others, rather than giving up some silly thing. I know of several people who don't drink during Lent, go on diets, and so on, which are also good ideas. Of course they drink heavily and pig out the rest of the year. One can also do volunteer work, help friends, family and even strangers, try to do some good deed every day, even beyond Lent.
For me, I will strive to watch and reduce my weight, walk/excercise more, drink a little less, help my mom (my father recently passed away) for Lent.

Fast-food. Subway, Quiznos, other submarine places are exempt, though. Primarily just referring to places with drive-through windows.
